Removal of screws from hip

I sustained a left hip fracture on 7/11/08. I am 32 years old. I underwent internal fixation surgery w/ 3 screws on 7/12/08.

I was on crutches approximately 7-8 wks, and partial weightbearing after that.

At my last appt in 2/09, the MD took x-rays, and it appears my fracture has completely healed 100% and perfect alignment. I do not walk with a limp.

However, I am having quite a bit of pain due to the screws, when I lay on my left side while Im sleeping or on the couch. This pain does not seem to have gotten any better. If the pain from the screws does get better over time, I do not want surgery.

I have surgery scheduled for 3/19 to remove the 3 screws w/ abone graft type procedure to fill in the holes in the bbone where the screws were.

Does anyone know, how long I will be non-weightbearing after this procedure. My MD seems to indicate 3 weeks on crutches, but he is very conservative, and everything Ive read on the internet, indicates only a few days of non-weightbearing. Any input would help! Thanks!
