I am still in pain where I cannot sit or sleep since the pain is on both sides and my back. The PM doc was on vacation last week so another doc prescribed percocett for me to last a couple days. Those helped a lot. My PM doc called back and I moved my appt to Sept 2 about the pain. He stated again that he doesn't like to prescribe pain meds. I need something inbetween treatments until I find a treatment that works. It's unbearable.

My question is:

Does anyone take pain meds for sacroiliac joint dysfunction?

Should I change PM docs because everytime I see him he states he doesn't like to prescribe pain meds?

P.S. I just want to be able to live a somewhat normal live with work and family and not be stuck in a bad mood and on the couch cuz of all the pain I'm in.

In my humble opinion, I'd find a PM that will help you with your pain, whether it's with meds or not. If you shop for PM docs looking for pain meds, it's going to look like you're a drug-seeker. I TOTALLY understand you aren't (I'm a neckie too, and know how bad it can hurt) but your PM needs to understand that too.

You can call another and tell them that your present PM is not managing your pain effectively and you're desperately seeking relief.

I hate to hear it when my friends are not receiving pain relief from their DOCTOR..

I told my pain management doctor (early in our relationship) that I couldn't figure what good a Pain Management clinic would do if my pain was not being managed.... She changed tactics real quick.

Of course, she has no problem with prescribing meds. She takes all the necessary precautions: urine samples each month, special prescription paper, and signs at the entrance, in the elevator, bathrooms and the lobby to her office that say: Selling or buying prescription medication is illegal and will be prosecuted!" and "Undercover agents on duty at all times". I've actually heard some of the patients complaining in the waiting room that she would not refill, or give certain meds. I had not had difficulty with obtaining the medication at all. But I have heard (read) members here state their PM docs only do Epidural injections, or therapy.

Well, I wish you luck Lisa. Hope you can find some relief, and that relief comes from your PM doc!
