Pain so bad, spiked fever?

Has anyone's pain gotten so debilitating that it has made their body go into like a 'shock'?
My pain was so incredibly high yesterday, my body spiked a fever...and it wasnt until I got the pain down (after 16 hours of trying different combinations) did I get the pain lowered, and my fever went away.
The best way I could compare it to is with a migraine..with my migraines, the pain gets so intense it sends me vomiting. It was just like that with this pain yesterday. It woke me up at 4am and nothing was shaking it.

I left a message with my doctor today. I am a lot better today, still feeling the after effects from it. But not nearly as bad as yesterday.

Wondering if anyone else had anything like this.

Broken mom of two lovely girls, 2 & 4yo. L4L5 Laminectomy, Then revision 5 weeks later, found out had broken vertebrae, 2 large bone spurrs, severe re-herniation, removed facet joint. Currently have herniated L4L5 (again!) as well as L5S1 plus an annular tear. Not a surgeon in site will help me due to the damage caused in 1st surgery.

Alina~Hi,I see this is a couple months old,but wth? I too spike fevers whenever my pain increases.My nurse said when I mentioned it to her that it happens to many people,though I've never actually talked to anyone about it to know if this is true.It's true in my case.

Have you ever tried TOPOMAX(or topamax,not sure on the spelling) for migraine prevention? I'm prescribed one 50mg three times a day as a migraine/pain prevention.I only take one at bedtime because of the side effects(stupidity--they are nicknamed dopamax),but since I have been taking it my migraines are far and few between,well worth it.

migraine meds

Hi, I have suffered from migraines since my late teens.I am 52 now,so know a little bit about them.Doc just started me on a new med.I can't take Topamax or Maxalt, or Verapamil(blood pressure med to control migraines)Sooooo, he gave me Midrin.It really helps a lot.I take the Midrin,5mg xanax,and a phenergan.I usually use ice pack on my head too.You can make them easy.1 part rubbing alcohol to 3 parts water, I seal mine with a vaccumn bag machine,no leaks, good luck with migraines and back pain.Hope this helps.

never, ever give up.....ddd,chronic low back pain,(tear in annulus of S1),L5-L4 L4-L3 bone spurs with bulging disc,Fusion recommended,2007(not done),.Been thru tons of p.t. and treatments.Spinal Cord Stimulator with (T7 laminectomy Aug 2008, done in 2nd surgery to correct placement) Now on pain meds,Fentanyl Patch & oxycodone asked for reduction in meds due to obstruction of small intestine but....never ever give up!

There may be another reason

why your fever decreases when your pain decreases. If you use anything with paracetamol, ibuprofen or a few others, these will bring down a fever.
You should really check with your doctor that you don't have an infection somewhere as often the drugs we take will mask the symptoms of infection and keep a fever down.
