Hi,
I have chronic pain in my lower back and down my left leg, at times (go out of your mind) unbearable. My doctor has me on percocet and cyclobenzaprine but they only slightly take the edge off. He gave me long lasting morphine for a month but I gave it back because it did nothing. Any suggestions?
There are lots of other medications that your doctor can try if the ones that you are currently are taking aren't working as well for you as they could be.
I'm not sure what cyclobenzapine is but because we each tolerate medications differently, and the percocet he has given you aren't giving you an adequate amount of pain relief, he may want to try you on either another short acting medication or there are many different long acting medications that may work better.
It is best to discuss those options with your doctors, since he is aware of your previous medical history and what he has tried before with you.
Good luck,
Sandi

Is the pain that you have nerve pain? There are specific drugs to address nerve pain and maybe you will get more help from one of them. It will definitely be worth talking to your doc about a change. Lots of other things to try. Good luck and keep us posted.

Some of my pains like that are very reluctant to go away, no matter what I throw at them. Usually the best ones are the opioids.
In your case though, it seems to me that you are trying to mask the symptoms but not looking for the cause.
Is that the case?
I have had very similar pains and it has turned out to be pelvic joints either locked up or out of place.
Nothing helps with the pain, except getting it fixed.
For me, this is a quick chiropractic treatment to free up the locked joint.
Otherwise, there is constant lower back back, down one leg at times, and it makes sleep almost impossible.
So, I'd very strongly suggest you see a chiro, who should be able to fix it in one treatment.
You then will be very susceptible to a recurrence, so must be VERY careful for several days afterwards.
Avoid sweeping etc-any twisting of the back.
You would be excused from housework and so on!
