Oxycontin side effects
What are your side effects to oxycontin? The new PM doc just added 20mgs twice a day and is going to up the dose until it's right for me. This medication is a life saver. I can already tell a big difference with the 20mg dose. It's a nice constant pain relief for about 8-9 hours. I'm taking 10/650 percocet for breakthrough pain.
The only side effect I'm noticing is that I don't get tired. I'm having a very hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. That is the only side effect I have with this medicine, amazing!
I'm scared to take a tylenol pm to see if that will help. It says not to take sleep aids while on this medicine.

Hi Nicole,
I just started Oxy 20mg as well. It's a miracle drug to me because it's controlling my pain so much better than the Vicodin I was constantly taking. Now I just use the Vicodin for breakthrough pain.
As far as side effects go, I noticed my anxiety is through the roof and I clench my teeth a lot, but I've always had anxiety issues and take Klonopin and it seems to settle that side effect.
I also feel like I drank 3 cups of coffee when I take it. But, I take klonopin at night to help me sleep and the mixture of the two helps me sleep.
Also, I'm having trouble with bowel movements. So, I'm increasing my fiber in my diet.
Other than that, no other side effects!!
I don't know about taking a tylenol pm along with it. Give your doctor a call and see what they say.
They'll probably tell/prescribe you some kind of remedy hopefully.

Isn't there a natural tea that is suppose to help you sleep?
I clench my teeth too, sometimes I will get tension headaches from it. I have anxiety, but I don't take anything for it.

When I was taking Oxy I took 1 benadryl pill at bed time to help me sleep and I watched how close to bed time I took my last Oxy. Yet like others have said check with your Dr or pharmacist first

Each time I am up'd in my Oxy dosage I will get a migraine (I take midrin for it) I started Oxy about 5 years ago switching from Norco to Oxy 5mgs 4x day now I am at 40mgs 3x day with 10 mgs break thru.
At first when I was put on Oxy I was so happy since it took almost all the pain away for about 5 hours it was great.
Do you still get good relief even though you've had to up the dose? I know that I will eventually build a tolerance, but I would like to think that this will work like this forever.

Green Tea or Chamomile works for some. There is a Tea called Valarium (valium ?)but I never tried it. Also not sure about the spelling, sorry about that.
56 yr old male--2006 3 cervical disk fusion with hardware now have a bulging C7 disk right below the 3 fussed.
Lumbar Pain--10-07--L4-L5 MicroDisk'y left side.
I now have pain in right foot area (big toe) and both upper legs. Much pain in my actual spine L4-S1 area.
5 X 10mg/325 NORCO daily, Vitamin D3 and B-P meds.
