Just for those out there with osteoarthritis, etc, my pm dr. gave me a prescription for voltaren gel and some samples and it has helped a great deal! It is relatively new, I believe, and I applied to some of my aches and pains and it actually got rid of them for a few hours! I was so excited I was dancing in my chair, and as I live in South Louisiana, the weather has been rough on me and increased my pain level, stupid rain!
But I thought I would make a little recommendation, just so those out there know...I'd tried the lidocaine patches and other patches and this beat the pants off of them!
I've been think about trying that - even if insurance doesn't cover it, the cash price is only 19.99, and it is a relatively large tube. Has anyone else tried it?
I have used both Volteren and Ibuprofen cremes, They don`t take the pain away as such, but take the edge off, when my incision site is feeling tired and sensitive, especially in the evenings of those days where I have done too much and dispite exhaustion, I just can`t settle and sleep.
I find the Ibuprofen creme works better for me, on my hip bones, where the bursitis is and the tingling and throbbing is sending me mad. The actual act of massaging it on is cooling and relieving too, knowing it will calm down the panic feeling and let me think of something else and often let me find a comfy position to rest in.
Both can be bought over the counter here in Europe and have been on the market for over 5 years , many people have a tube in the medicine cabinet for use with aches and sprains, many supermarkets and pharmacies have their own brand which is cheaper than the original, but equally effective. Its also one less medicine to go through my liver too, and no side effects!
have never heard of this before but I would love to give it a try and if it is only about $19.99 a tube well , that is even better....
