Hi,
I have two disc desiccations at level L4-L5 and L5-S1. Besides chronic active severe denervation on muscles supplied by the S1 right root. So, kind of rough time since several months.
I was wondering if there were some other gay sufferers by here, though our pain is the same (to the rest of members) our particularities may be different: Family issues, partners, sex life, etc.
If you are unwilling to post just PM me ...
Thanks for passing by and keep reading until this line.
This Member has been permanently banned from Spine-Health for several reasons, none being his sexual preferences.

Particularities are diferent with family issues, sex life and partners because you are gay and have l4l5 and l5s1 issue ?
I had to read this 2 times and my head is still spinning,
Gay or straight. Black or white, blue or yellow we all have the same issue when it comes to spine condition, And family and sex and whatever other issues pain brings upon us,
I think it would be more apropriate to talk about what tests you have had and what surgery options were you given to correct you pain issue and leave the gay part out of it for thats not important here,
L4 L5 disc replacement in 2004=causing nerve damage'Flexicore disc. 2006 fusion same level leaving adr in. Fusion did nothing to releive the nerve pain.Pain clinic=every injection procedure avalable inc, razadamy, ablation, nerve stimulater trial, morphine pump trial all failed. Pain can be described as burning pain in lower spine penetrating in to left buttock, down left leg. Refuse to take lyrica or nuorontin do to its side effect,Leaving me with norco, valume, and flexiril at night.Which these medications only help with the muscle aches and stiffnes does nothing for the nerve pain from the nerve damage sustained from the adr surgery.Coming up nov.19th 2009 Lami, and hardware removal from fusion, for hardware just causing more pain in other areas.Hardware block comfirmed hardware is also causing pain in diferent area aside from the severe nerve pain on left side.Emg showed some posible problem above surgery are at L3 L4.
I kind of had the same reaction, not really sure why being gay would matter, not to most of us here at least. I started to think you might get some replies that could seem like attacks, but even with my short time here I'm pretty sure that won't be the case. Everyone here is really nice, helpful, and compassionate, regardless of any other factors than pain.
As a fellow pain sufferer, I just want to welcome you to the site. I hope you find the support you're looking for and hope that you don't limit that by singling yourself out or alienating the kind people here.
MRI reports:
Bilateral facet hypertrophy from L3 to S1. Broad-based left foraminal/posterolateral disc herniation L4-L5, with underlying focal annular tear abutting the existing left L4 nerve root. Bilateral facet hypertrophy, with resultant mild to moderate left neural foraminal narrowing (L4-L5). Small posterior central disc herniation at L5-S1. Small right paracentral disc herniation at T7-8, indenting the right anterior thecal sac. 1.5cm rounded T2 hyperintense lesion in the T12 vertebral body.
Veteran of many RFAs (ask me anything about them). 50% disabled Army Veteran. Proud CPAP wearer (ask for advice).
Actually very few people here are sex athletes, sadly that is also my case... So, there is no much difference whether your gay or not... At least in the sex compartment.
However I understand your case. You may want to keep some sort of community involvement that kind of mirrors the one you once had.
But look, you've got three uplifting comments from 3 straight (I guess) men. Would you have seen that coming?

GayBelieve - while I can understand your hesitation to discuss things in the general fora here, I suggest you do a bit of reading through the different topics. Pain, and the surgery most of us end up with, leaves us with very little to hide. From numbness of genital parts to how one goes about having a bowel movement after lying in bed on big doses of narcotics for days, we tend to get it all out there. We do, of course, try to use more medical terminology and be polite (well, as much as possible) about it, but it may not be much different that what you intend anyway. That said, if you do find others here who would rather discuss in private, many blessings to you. In the meanwhile, please don't let fear of discrimination stop you from joining in the terrific time ;P we're all having. You are more than welcome to just jump into our midst. No questions asked.

3 level 360 degree lumbar fusion (L3-S1) starting with eight-hour surgery to place hardware, discs could not be removed from the back due to scar tissue, so four days later, they went in from the front to complete the job. November 2008
I think everyone here has already posted our feelings and I hope you do understand.
When it comes to Spinal Problems/Chronic Pain, etc, there is no discrimination. Pain doesn't care if you are:
White or Black
Catholic, Muslim or Jewish
American or European or Asian
Male or Female
Tall or Short
Gay or Straight
So, please concentrate on your medical condition, when did it start, diagnostic tests you have taken, medications, treatment, etc.
The more we know about an individual's medical situation, the easier it is for us to respond to the posts.

As Tony, Alex, and all of the rest. I'd like to welcome you to Spine Health, where we are not prejudice.
But after reading your post several times. I think you may be. And if so. That would be a shame. Because pain, is pain. And we all need a shoulder to lean on.

I realize this is a back pain forum so people mainly discuss about their conditions, their surgeries, their medications... In fact I've seen a subtle contest to see who is the one with the greatest suffering. The longer the list of maladies in your signature the more prestigious you are supposed to be. I may be wrong but that's my impression.
And isn't that insistence of asking for the exact nature of your condition, yes, an interest of bringing advice. But wouldn't be also for comparing conditions and seeing who is to "win"?
I don't object that, it's human nature. Besides it's implicitly encouraged by the moderators. Should I want to join these topics I will know where to come.
But I want to think about me as more than the sum of my ailments. I already talk enough about my back issues with my doctor, family and friends. And at this moment I just want to talk about something else. With new people, people who understand chronic back pain, yes, and hopefully gay people, but back pain not being the main topic per se.
Thank you all for your replies. I don't know whether I'll be back, but thanks all the same.

You think pain a CONTEST
? How dare you! Any one of us would love to , how you put it "win" by being OUT OF PAIN. That's winning. To ask for a little background is merely a means for us all to get an idea of what each other is/has gone/was going through. We don't list these issues as signs of victory. It sounds to me that perhaps Spine-Health is not the place you are looking for to "chat about anything BUT spinal issues. I come here for support, an ear to listen to me, and, yes, to even research article regarding my issues ... hoping maybe to find another avenue to explore for pain relief. Good luck!!! Oh, by the way, please don't read my story, probably too long for you.

Hmmm ok let me see if i am reading this correct!
New member joins forum but dont want to talk about spine condition for its been talked enough about with dr so just looking to only talk with other gay people!
Sounds like you looking for the gay connection not suport from any other!
To base an opinion that we are in a race for who is in most pain wins here is very childish,
Just by that statement alone leads me to believe you been here before and probably did not get enough attention and found your way back in here to bring some drama with ya!
Because clearly by making such remark is an insult to us all!
So you not blowing smoke up my ass my friend!

I as Alex am very confused in your interest of spine-health. I for one don't have anything in my signature line or in my profile. You might find members put that information down, so as one suffering the same aliment can seek them out easier. This is a medical forum and needs to be used in that fashion. Your saying
Your sexual preference has nothing to do with being in pain and having a spinal condition. I personally think your hoping to raise some eyebrows or something else. But I hate to say no one here really cares that your gay. Now if your thinking your turing this into a gay website to pick up someone well then you have that wrong, Just as if any heterosexual thought they were going to use the website for their personal gain. There are other forums on the net to suit that purpose for both gay's, heterosexuals and any other sexual preference you have. Chronic pain, has no specific target group or age gender or skin color. It finds all of us the same way. Now if your spinal condition is really not that bad and you can manage with it but would just like to be a member contributing helping other members then so be it, we have plenty of those members as well.
If your looking to put the daily jokes go look at the light and bright topics. If you want to talk about insurance their is a topic for that. You have chosen to make a post in chronic pain, where members discuss chronic pain. So possibly another one of forums will support your issues to discuss something else other than the chronic pain forum. If you would like for me to move your topic to another area of the forums please feel free to pm me and I will do so.
If you don't want to discuss your back problems with anyone but your friends and your doctor, this isn't the place for you. That's what we're all about here. We talk about our 'ailment' and our pain and we try to support each other through it. Believe me, my signature line could be huge, but I'm what one would consider 'recovered' now, so I just come back here to help the folks who are still in the midst of extreme agony (and having been there, I know it's agony). Perhaps you should just move on to a gay connections site. We're talking pain here, no matter what affiliation goes along with it.

Ive seen it all now, personally i think you are just trying to stir up some bulls##t. Our pain and issues are real and trust me this is no contest we are trying to win. If it is a contest I would gladly come in last. My medical conditions are posted in my signature in the hopes that I can help someone who will have many questions about their condition. How dare you question our reasoning for being on this site. There are many great and caring wonderful people on S.H. that have helped me numerous times with questions about up-coming surgeries or test. I personally am offended by your post.

He or she cant pm you unless you are gay! Lol
Is there something you like to share with us tamtam? Lol
I think you over looked the coment about the more symptoms we have and the more surgery we have makes us most popular and winers,
That alone is usualy said by a previous banned members who sometimes seeks so much attention and dont get it and causes them to feel as if this chronic pain is a game of some sort and a popularity contest of who suffering more!
By a new person saying this tells me they have history here! After geting banned for posibly stiring up too much drama what beter way they have then to come back and create another dramatic gay issue now,
I have seen a few posts last few days such as this 1 with omar15 tossing out 1 liner questions off the wall questions never responding to any of them when asked what his or her medical issue is!
I have to assume they get a kick out of us responding many times no mater how stupid the question may be and i guess the joke is on us when we do!
People can do strange things for attention and dont mater if its positive or negative,
I think there goal is to be enoying and thats about it,
Ok Ok i know you might be saying to yourself Alex you are enoying also!
Well you are probably correct and i would only argue that i am enoying in a positive way. Lol.

Yeah, so sad to see the response you made. Here we are, a welcoming and non-judgmental group of folks willing to try and lessen the burden of dealing with the chronic pain we all suffer from, and you turn out to be the most judgmental of us all. Sad. You need to take a look in the mirror. You're obviously all set to bash us if we take exception to your sexual preference, then you bash us for our ailments, LMAO. I'm pretty sure you won't be back, as the purpose of this board doesn't align with your agenda.

I take back my post of giving you the benefit of the doubt!

Can you connect the dots? SPINES!!!!
I am done. I have so much more to say about what I take to be a combine of arrogance & ignorance but instead I am headed off to read more posts from members who are looking for support, info and such about their SPINES!!!!

what your objective was from the day you registered.
You had no interest in what your medical problem is, nor could you care less about other members medical problems. You attempted to use this site to discuss items that you were probably been banned from other sites.
Your time here and posts were insults to the entire member community.
Your access to this site has been banned, you are no longer welcomed at Spine-Health.
It is also important for all members here to be aware that Gaybelieve and JuanCarlos are one and the same person. Identical email addresses and IP addresses.
That is a clear major violation of forum rules.
You agree not to impersonate other individuals when you submit to forums on Spine-health.com.

I don't understand why you don't just delete crap like this Ron. It just serves as more mess in the forum DB. Any other idiot sees it as incentive, sadly. This is the same as SPAM. I'd delete every thread on here that is just spam with no context or value. Just a thought.
Hmmm interesting, I was part right about him already having history here,
Just was not sure in what way,
Carlos 1 st post was about suicide and i thought we did a good job talking him down from jumping or having any further suicide thoughts,
But creating another user name and starting a new post about this only looking for suport from other gay members and no other i would of figured would be a violation on its own,
That would be discriminating against people who are not gay !
It works both ways,
That would be like me saying i would like some suport and talk to members who are white because i am white! How stupid and ignorant would that sound!
Thats 1 thing i never seen here is discrimination of any kind! Which is nice to see because we all know there is plenty of it out in the world,
There is good and bad in any color or religion or gay or straight,
I was born as a catholic so i am bad all week but us catholics as long as we confess our sinns every sunday we good to go and sinn all week!
