hip lower back and buttock pain

I'm a 34 year old male that suddenly was stricken with buttock and excruciating hip pain. I've had X-rays of my hip and lower spine, mri of lower lumbar and CT of pelvis with contrast. Of course everything has come back showing nothing. The mri showed no bulging discs or anything like that. I'm get in so much pain now in the hips and buttocks I take hydrocodone twice a day. I'm currently in my 4th week of PT and all the stretches and exercises don't decrease the pain.
I really think my muscles are just weakening in my hips and lower back now. I don't have pain that goes down my leg . It's on both hips, started on the right hip.
Anyone have a clue of what it might be? Hoping to get a hip MRI.

Lifestyle:
mostly sit at a desk 8 hours a day and drive 2 hours a day.

Hi and Welcome

I have SI joint issues and hip and lower back pain and I had some injections that helped somewhat. I hope the MRI is of your lower back as well as your hips. Have you tried aqua-therapy with a Physiotherapist? Even walking in the pool will help strengthen your muscles. Keep us posted what your tests show. Take care. Charry

Hi...

Hi...I have to say that it stinks that they aren't sure the cause of your pain but the good news is that there is no major concern from the MRI.

I hope this means that PT can help.
Often times Hip/Buttocks can be early signs of Bursitis...I have issues with my hip (due to my back issues) and find that if I don't walk and do the stretching, I hurt more. In addition, a 'desk job' is my nemesis too. I drink lots of water to force me to get up an walk around frequently.

I wish I had more to offer.
Also on your drive...adjust the seat every 20 mins and if you drive more than 1 hour at a clip, stop and get out to walk around for 10 mins.

Hi...

Did a spine specialist read your MRI?

Sleeprgirl makes a good point

Sleeprgirl makes a good point - Make sure a spine specialist sees you.
A general practioner will review the MRI report from the radiologist differently than a spine doctor will (orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon).

Hi hotdog

Welcome to Spine-Health.

Stenosis can cause hip and back pain and doesn't always register on an MRI. Mine happened to because it was so obvious, but not always.

Do you hurt more when you bend forward or backward? Does one relieve the pain more than the other? Does it hurt more to stand or to sit or both or neither? I'm just trying to get a better view of what sets off your symptoms and what helps.

sciatica after decompression op

Hi ,
I'm new to the forum .
I've just had a spinal decompression on 4 levels done , and approx a month after the op I've developed acute sciatica in left buttock , thigh and leg .
It's disappointing as everything seemed to be going well .
Anyone else experienced this , and if so , did it go away ?
Cheers .
