Hi Again,
I am in so much pain tonight I just had to have someone to talk to. I went over to my Sister's house tonight to see my great nephews. They are twins and are so adorable. I had not seen them in so long. They are now walking and getting into everything. It was a family get together. I had not been out of the house for a week. Just hanging out with everyone was so nice and yet my pain was getting so bad my husband had to take me home. I have such deep burning pain. I guess it is nerve pain. I started taking Lyrica a few days ago, but an getting no relief. I was hoping it might relieve the burning pain. Does anyone know how long it takes for it to be effective? I'm so sad because I know my family is so worried, but I just can't hide this pain. By the time I left the family get-together tonight I was in tears, and so was my sweet Sister who knows how bad my pain is, but feels helpless because she can't help me. My doctor does not think my pain is this bad, but this deep burning nerve pain is the worse pain I've ever experienced. It is not like muscle pain that I've had and is unrelentless. Feeling really bad. Hope

How long does it take for Lyrica to work

I was taking Lyrica for about a year and a half... it was so effective for me. It seems like I was able to tell a difference with the Lyrica within a week to a week and a half. I have pain in my legs from nerve damage. I had a STUPID mix up with my mail order pharmacy and ended up running completely out of Lyrica. OMG,I thought I was going to die from the pain! My mail order pharmacy said I had to try something cheaper than the Lyrica, they wouldn't continue with the it unless I tried something cheaper that didn't work. Three weeks later, I finally got the new medicine, Neurontin, which seems to work very well for me also. I never want to run out again. It was brutal!
I hope you feel better really soon...
about the lyrica specifically but most meds take about a week to get in to your system and for you to start seeing improvement. I know that when I first started taking methadone it took about 7 days. It was weird because I got no relief at all and then got out of bed one morning in no pain. try and be patient and give it a little more time. If your doc does not believe you are in pain you really need to find a new doc asap. If he does not believe you he will not be putting his best effort in to trying to help you. I am so sorry to hear of your experience at the family get together and I can very much relate. My family also worries about me and I try as hard as I can to hide it but sometimes I just can't. I know how painful that sciatica is and really do feel for you. Do you see a PM doc? Have you tried a rhizotomy(nerve burn)yet? That has always given me great relief with the sciatica. Good luck to you and I hope that you feel better soon.
i take lyrica and it took a month at least. but mainly because the dr started me out at a lower dosage and then had to slowly increase it until it got to a level that worked for me. you need to work with your dr in order to get the dosage level correct because the level you start out on may need to be adjusted to be customized for you. dont give up!!! it does work and works great for me!
hope this helps!

The backs of my legs are excruciting pain when I walk and stand, sitting and laying down is OK. Diagnoised with spinal stenosis aggravated by sciatica. Been going on for 2 months now. They are going to do an epidural next Wed. Been thru muscle relaxers, naproxen and I am now on Lyrica for a week with little relief 50mg in the morning and 75 at nite.
Anyone have experience with the shot??
Thanks!
Hello, I know what you mean when you are talking about burning pain, and it does hurt like hell. I have been on lyrica for about 1 1/2 yrs and I take 600 mg and honestly I really dont get a lot of relief from it. I also take many other meds and have not found anything that helps relieve my pain. There are days that I go without sleep due to the pain as well. I hope that the lyrica works for you, give it some time cuz it needs to build up in your system and good luck!
