T11/T12 burst fracture

I was 17 when a cheer stunt went wrong and I landed flat on my back. My coaches guessed that I injured my muscles and they were tensing up. They said to go to a walk in clinic just in case since we were driving 6 hours the next morning to competition. After a long car ride, long walk to the clinic (they had no wheelchair) and yet another even longer drive to the hospital I was told I had received 2 burst fractures to both T11 and T12. I was in the hospital for a week and given a juniper brace (I believe thats what its called). I was then on bed rest for 2 months. I was never offered any surgeries, they told me because I was so young that it should heal properly. Its been 2 years and ive been as strong as I can possibly be but it has become too much to handle. I was given tramacet when I first broke it for the pain but they didnt sit well with my stomach. I take Advil and Tylenol when the pain is unbearable but for the most part I have just been attempting to block the pain out and carry on with my life. I have been to physiotherapy and tried acupuncture. I just turned 19 and cannot begin to imagine 10 years from now. I am now looking into asking my spinal specialist about receiving cortisone injections. Im wondering if anyone is able to give me some insight and advice about cortisone. Have any of you tried it, did it aid with the pain? Im also open to any other forms of treatment if you found it has helped you.
Thank you for your time.

I have not had a fracture,

I have not had a fracture, but did/do have several herniated thoracic discs. I have received epidural steroid injections, which did nothing for the pain. I ended up having a 2-level thoracic discectomy, which helped greatly. It certainly would not hurt to ask about injections. Have you gotten a second opinion for this? I realize that you are young, but at the same time, that does not mean that you should have to suffer in pain for so long. Being that this has been going on for 2 years now, it is apparent it is not healing properly. Have they done any new imaging studies recently? It sounds like you are trying trying all of the conservative measures, which is great. But if none of that seems to be helping, hopefully there is something else they can offer you. You should not have to suffer in pain, just because you are young!

Im glad you were able to

Im glad you were able to find something that helped! Ive talked to my family doctor and he pretty much said it may help and it may not, it costs a lot so I'm wanting as many opinions as possible before going through with it (plus I hate needles). They have done new imaging, so far my doctor said nothing out of the ordinary. It just makes no sense to me as to why it feels as though the pain is getting worse if nothing has changed.
