continuing back pain

Hi guys,

I'm hoping somebody can shed some light on my back for me as the docs are quite happy pumping me full of drugs and telling me nothing, I'm starting to feel like a mushroom, kept in the dark and fed s*** every now and again.
Anyway, I had a lumber puncture 12 month ago and suffered horrendous back pain ever since, the docs put me on gabopentin , dehydtacodiene, and Duluxatine which worked, they have now taken me off gabo and Duluxatine for reasons only known to themselves and gave me a epidural 3-4 wks ago which has had no effect what so ever. This was suggested by a pain management doc who carried out the op and stopped the meds. He told me from my symptoms that when they did the lp they had hit a nerve which comes as no suprise really given the radiating pain from my lower back, groin and right leg. I'm now stuck in limbo waiting for another appointment, does anyone know the next step or potential solution to my pain? 12 months 6 of which I've been off work really is taking the Mick especially as I haven't taken a step forward at all, if anything gone backwards with the amount of pain being caused.

Thanks. Ben

Yuck

Well I have never had an LP but I would recommend you getting a second opinion. It doesn't sound like your doc listens to you and how you are feeling. Be persistent! Find someone who will listen.

I understand your pain

Hey Ben....Seems like you were going through the exact same thing I was. I went to 3 different doctors before I got frustrated and started looking into options for myself. I noticed that my pain was most dominant after I had been on my feet all day. Is this the same in your case? I did some research on orthopaedic-stretches and exercise that are supposed to help out. Hopefully this helps!

Hi Bushnell,

Hi Bushnell,

You dead right if I spend a lot of time on the move or driving it kicks up like hell. I've been through physio and all I got was I do t know I'll pass you on to pain clinic! Derbyshire NHS trust being useless as ever. I keep looking for advice etc on here and google and all I seem to come up with are live with it your back is buggered. I'm thinking about paying for a private consult to see if I get any further but when I mentioned it to my Gp he didn't know what sort to see! I'm torn between neurosurgeon or a back specialist.

I know this sounds weird but,

I know this sounds weird but, I keep getting a warm wet feeling where the doc stuck the needle for my epidural, with it I get a blinding headache. This only started happening a week ago, after my back went with a bone crunching crack. Ideas?
