7 years ago I was hit by a drunk driver and was placed in shock trama for over a month, after I woke up and the hospital found that I didn't have insurance, they sent me home. I was home for only 8 hrs before I had to go back because the pain was too much to bare and cause me to go into an asthma attack.
Long story short, 7 years later and no insurance will take me, but I had been managing my pain with one opana 40mg a day and 2 15mg oxicodone IR a day by my doctor.
My issue is that my pain doctor is now retired and I can't find a pain doc that will help me. The story I get is that they are affraid to take new pateints because of the government. The other issue I am having is that a cple of doctors have a 45 to 90 day wait to get in.
if my pain isn't managed then the pain gets so bad that I can't breath.
Does anyone know of a doctor in maryland that will not rob me with a high payment each month? I need help, since my doc retired a lil over a 2 months ago, I haven't been able to work! Infact I haven't even been able to leave my bed.
My problem is that I have degenerative disk desease, extensive syatic nerve damage and my l4 and l5 is bone on bone and my s1 is slipped at an angle that if I sit in a seat it feels like my back is on fire and that I'm being stabbed over and over.
I hope someone can help me find a doctor that isn't expensive and will place me back on my medication that works and helps me keep working. I'm not asking to raise my meds, with dealing with a pain level of 10 plus everyday, being on my one 40mg opana and 2 15mg oxicodone IR a day brings my level down to a 5 or 6 and that's all I ask!
I've had tons of shots and honestly I do want surgery once the national healthcare plan is in place, but for now all I can afford to be on and ask for is the medication that works.
Thank you for ur time.
You cant sighn up for patient assistance and have surgery? I would look in to that 1 st because most hospitals have that for who cant pay and they have to find a way to do your surgery,
Or medicaid will pay also, There is no reason not to have surgery if it has to be done,
And then social worker from hospital might help you find all the resources to receive follow up medications,
Or what about ssdi ? Have you filed dissability with ssdi?
L4 L5 disc replacement in 2004=causing nerve damage'Flexicore disc. 2006 fusion same level leaving adr in. Pain can be described as burning pain in lower spine penetrating in to left buttock, down left leg. Refuse to take lyrica or nuorontin do to its side effect,Leaving me with norco, valume, and flexiril at night.Which these medications only help with the muscle aches and stiffnes does nothing for the nerve pain from the nerve damage sustained from the adr surgery.Coming up nov.19th 2009 Lami, and hardware removal from fusion, for hardware just causing more pain in other areas.Hardware block comfirmed hardware is also causing pain in diferent area aside from the severe nerve pain on left side.Emg showed some posible problem above surgery are at L3 L4.
I have tried hospital assistance and have been denied because I make too much money. And ssdi has denied me 3 times and I have tried every maryland medical assistance and the only thing that did help was the maryland medical assistance program which is a 3 mnth card and by the time I finaly got my card 45 days had passed and it helped pay 2 % of my past bills and after the card expired they said its only a one time thing. All my bills from shock trama and all my hospital visits, shots, morphine pump and everything under the sun that docs wanted me to try before they put me on pain medication cost me over $400k, which is what I am in debt to.
The only thing I can afford to pay is a pain doc that Will help me with letting me be on my rx and paying for my meds. As for all the other bills, I can't pay for something that isn't currently helping me.
The hospitals all told me they have all these programs and I got denied every single one!
All I want for now is a doctor that will help me with the medication that WORKS so that I can work, and still pay for water, food and my home. But as for now, since I can't get out of bed, I'm getting closer and closer to being homeless!
PLEASE, I GOTTA FIND A HELPING DOCTOR! I'm to the point with dealing with this pain that I don't see what the point of going on! No one should ever have to live with this type of pain due to a non insured drunk driver!

For the triplet, my stupid phone kept saying it failed to post.
With such severe spine condition i dont know how you can work even with the medications, not sure how thats even posible,
But there has to be a way to get assistance to have the surgery. Or posibly have the surgeey self pay and after surgery figure oit how you can get assistance?
I am sorry i cant be of much help, I am no expert how the system works,
But even people that never worked a day in there life i see get state assistance so hard to believe they cant help you in any way,
Maybe your regular dr can help keep you going on the meds, Just hang in there, Where there is a will there is a way,
