Cervical problems causing dizziness?

I just want some of your opinions. I've been having arm/hand numbness & tingling off and on for a long time. Last night I couldn't sleep for my left hand tingling and my head feels so funny. It's hard to explain. It feels like its going to blow up or something. I'm dizzy/woozy feeling. I don't seem to have any sinus problems. I've been doing a lot of things that have been hard on my neck and back and wonder if this is the result of that? Have any of you felt like this and found out it was from your neck? I just find it very unusual that it kept waking me up feeling like this. Any info will be appreciated. I hope you're all having a good day.

Hi Debbie

I have a question: does it feel kind of like there's something around your throat, but it doesn't feel like choking, just like a bunch of blood has rushed into your head? And does your face turn red?

Hi Cathie

I just sent you a pm.

It does feel like all the blood has rushed to my head and is staying there! I hadn't thought of it like that. Doesn't really feel like anything around my throat though, not that I've noticed. I don't know if my face gets red (haven't looked cause the way I feel I haven't combed my hair today lol) but it feels hot and flushed sometimes because I took my temp once but it was normal. Did you feel like that? I don't want it to be caused by my neck but I don't want to be coming down with another darned virus or something either. My neck has been hurting so much that it made me wonder though. I can raise my head up and back and it feels like even more pressure. Strange.

Thanks Cathie
Debbie

Hi Debbie

Grin Could the head thing be from the products you used when working on the log house? I know working in the construction field I was always walking into strange fumes from various things on the job site. If you are around it enough, it may have gotten into your system and just needs to work its way out. And, of course, based on the project you just did, I'm sure it your neck spasming causing your tingling and numbness in your hands. Have you been using ice on your neck instead of heat? That might help.

Sorry you had a bad night's sleep -- that's rotten!

Hi Judy

Thanks. I just sent you a pm before I read this.

I don't think it has anything to do with any of the chemicals but you never know. It was windy most days and actually I never did smell any of the stuff. I did probably inhale a lot dust while sanding though. I finished with the sanding Sunday though so surely it wouldn't wait this long to affect me?
I have found that it seems to have a lot to do with the position I hold my head in. If it's not better tomorrow I'll probably go to the walk in clinic. That is unless other symptoms arise that make me think it's a virus, cold or something. There's so much of the flu going around that I wouldn't want to go to the clinic if I could avoid it you know?

Thanks for the thoughts Judy. I really hadn't considered the chemicals. Just the after-effects of the work. lol.

Hope you're feeling better and that your foot is feeling better.

Cervicogenic dizziness

I felt like my brain was vibrating in my skull, or roaring but so low that I could almost not hear it. I was somewhere between dizzy and disoriented and at first thought I had an inner ear infection. My NS did not think all this was related to my neck, and did not think it would resolve with surgery. It was, and it did, Wish the tinnitus had gone, too.

All these symptoms have returned along with some more brand new ones. At least this time I won't go through a doc-in-a-box giving me antibiotics (yes, really, children) for an inner ear infection that I don't have and that breaks my face out like a giant pizza.

I don't remember having the flushing problem before, but I've checked my temperature a hundred times this week, and my head has that full tight feeling that I had before. And yes, it is positional.

Debbie, if neurologists don't always agree on the cervicogenic dizziness diagnosis, you're not likely to find a rent-a-doc who gets it either. Your best bet is the neuro.

Keep us updated on how this goes, if you would, and we'll keep thinking about you as well.

re

I have some problems with positioning on my neck and certain angles cause dizziness (the tingling is a given almost all the time). My PT thinks I have cervical artery disfunction- it could be caused my the boney stenosis or it could be caused by clogged artery.... Another new nut to crack!

Please let us know what the story is.

Thanks,

Julie

Hi again Debbie

The feeling I described above is the same thing I had for about a month before my surgery. It also made me light-headed. I haven't had that feeling again since the surgery, so for me, I'm assuming that it happened because of my cervical problems.

I'd be sitting at a table with my husband and some friends I'd have on of these episodes, and I wouldn't say anything. Then one of them would look at me and ask me if I was alright because my face was so red. If someone walked up to me during one of these episodes, they'd ask me where I'd gotten the sunburn.

Many moons ago, I posted a question about these episodes on here and members posted back that it could be my meds, or menopause, but it was so sudden and strange that I didn't know what was causing it.

Hi everyone...

Thanks TitanNeck, Julie, and Cath. I appreciate all of your help. I think that like you all it's related to my cervical problems. I know the hand tingling probably is. Last night I finally found a position to lie in that actually eased up the pressure/vibrating feeling. I laid my ice pack on the arm of the sofa and laid my neck across it and somehow it helped for a while. Today it's doing the same thing but not nearly as bad. It seems like a low roar/vibration today. I've been icing on and off all day. Just haven't felt good and haven't done anything much.
I know how it is to be told you have sinus infections and fed all kinds of antibiotics for nothing. That's how my doctor did me last year for my headaches. Then I had an mri on my head and the neuro said my sinuses were perfect. I had argued my doctor all along that I thought it was my neck causing them and a cervical mri finally confirmed it.
Thanks again everyone. I hope this gets better soon. I think that I made everything inflamed by doing to much and just need to let my neck rest awhile. I hope you're all doing well today.
Take care all

It's back again!

My head feels like crap again. It went away before after a few days. Maybe it will again. I swear it seems like I can't win for losing sometimes. Maybe I'm going crazy after all? Maybe I've already gone??

I feel like throwing a huge pity party for myself...anybody want to join in?

Pitty Party Yee Hawww Sorry

Pitty Party Clown Yee Hawww

Sorry Debbie. You have all of my sympathy. I hope you can find some relief.

My head feels decent today but my neck and arms are funct'-up.

PT called and said they had an opening so I went for some massage- much needed.

Have you tried and ice/gel pack on the base of your head? It helps me when the head is bad.

Soft ,

Julie
