Hi All,
I am wondering if anyone could offer some insight about how your spouse, or "life partner", or "soul mate" deals with your chronic pain and all of the dr trips and meds, etc.? I did do a search on the SH site, but didn't find too many what I would consider helpful responses. Those that were out there were quite old. Hubby and I have been married about 10 years and since my "adventure" began in 2006 things have been very solid. Known each other since Kindergarten
. Graduated HS in 1966. Reconnected in 2002. Married 2003. Sometimes, though, I feel like he would like to distance himself me from my whole situation. Is this just my guilt coming through or what? Appreciate the feedback all.

HI Rassy
Sorry I have been here way too long and my bum is numb and back is hurting - time for me to go. HOWEVER I wanted to post here real quick to let you know that I "get it" as I live with someone like this too.
I will be back to post more when I can..
PS: If you could post more about you it would be helpful. what is your injury? How has it changed your life? Anything else you feel comfy sharing
Ms. Humpty Dumpty Took a great fall. L1-L2-L3-L4 - S1 & S2 full herniations. Spinal stenosis, spinal arthritis, DDD, scoliosis. Knees, hips & spine have degenerative bone disease, arthritis and bone spurs. Age 50 - Here to find & offer support. *Had bilateral knee replacement surgery done March 15th, 2011
Three months ago I went through a two level lumbar fusion and in 2009 I had a discectomy and a laminactomy. In addison it seems that for one reason or another I have always been in pain more or less. Sometimes I wonder about the same things as you. My husband has been so very patient. But is he so used to my pain that he does not take it seriously anymore. Maybe for him it is just another thing.... I try to give him attention on my better days and make him feel special. For sure, it is not easy being with someone like me.
Thanks for all of your comments. I guess I would like hubby to spend just ONE day like us, only to understand what chronic pain is and what one goes through on a daily basis fighting it. He is still the love of my life and I would not trade him for anything. How can you trade your "Grade School Sweetheart"? He is the first boy to kiss me waaay back in the 4th Grade
Keep the faith all.

but I did a quick search and come up with about 30 different threads that talk about this.
Now, some of them have different subject lines.
(Depression, Sorry, Coping) so depending on how and what you search will give you different results.
I have posted at least 30 times in the past year or so regarding this subject.
Its all basically the same. Later on when I get some more time (running out to work now) I will post again either with more details or pointers to the actual threads.
One last word: COMMUNICATIONS - That is the KEY Word
