uncinate and facet hypertrophy

I was in a recent car accident. I just recieved a copy of my MRI but do not have a doctor's apt for a couple more weeks. The cervical part of the MRI said:

C4-5 left neural canal narrowing secondary to uncinate and facet hypertrophy

C5-6 left neural canal narrowing secondary to uncinate and facet hypertrophy

then in the Lumbar region one of my disc is bulging.

(my neighbor keeps telling me that my pain is imagined and that this is nothing more than whiplash)

My neck and upper back down to my finger tips are in constant pain. I keep getting shocking sensations to my finger tips and hot and cold water aggrevate the situation, I also get a lot of numbing and tingling. Any insight from anyone? I have been in pain for a couple of months now and no real relief

forget the neighbor

welcome to sp - is your doc appt with gp or someone else? If the pain is intense - have you ask any of your doctor's if their is something that can help until you get to the appt?

As far as the neighbor - forget them, if you can. Someone told me once that i need to be aware of my audience. Those who truely care for me - i speak about what is going on with me - the rest - I jsut say "i am doing fine" - it helps me not to get frustrated with their comments, advise and so on. Those people do not need to know, they really don't care!

I am sorry that i cannot be of anymore help to your mri findings - i assume you have tried the language on theinternet. From my experience, hand, elbow pain can come from the neck - hopefully the doc will help you with all the info -take care until then

Hi Csellers and Welcome

It's rough you're in an accident and have these findings. Is your primary Dr. giving you some pain meds? I take lyrica and amitriptyline for the sciatica. I used to take valium for muscle spasms for my neck but now I just take flexeril for my lower back. I would get back to your regular Dr. and review your symptoms and your pain before the couple of weeks Dr. appt. Take care. Charry

DDD of lumbar spine with sciatica to left hip,leg and foot. L4-L5 posterior disc bulge with prominent facets, L5-S1 prominent facets with a posterior osteocartilaginous bar. Mild bilateral foraminal narrowing c-spine c4-c7 RN

thank you

Thank you for your comments. I do try to block people out but it is so hard since I live in a small town where everyone knows the last time you sneezed. I am not really use to this coming from the New Orleans area. I just can't wait until June 3 for the orthopedist. I am on pain meds but hate taking the ones I have, I don't like to dizziness nor the sleepiness especially since I am a single mother of two boys. Well anyway, thanks for any advice.
