SI Joint Surgery

I'm going to be having SI joint surgery to stabilize both joints. I would like to find out what kind of recovery I should expect. When can you put weight on them? Can anyone give me some info on the procedure and recovery?

S I joint surgeryc

When are you having your surgery? Are they putting screws in?
I had 2 S I surgeries. My recovery was not that hard. I had toe touch weight bearing for 6 weeks. I had to use either a walker or crutches.
After the 6 weeks I was able to go on with normal activity, no heavy running, or exercising, but. Life got pretty back much to normal. After surgery, the pain wasn't bad at all, took MS Contin for 2 weeks, then Vicoden. I have been very happy with my results.
My first surgery was 5 years ago, and my second was 14 months ago.
Every so often I have a bit of pain, but nothing like it was before the surgery. I have a very good doctor that I Cain recommend to you.

My mom's was a success

Not positive what kind of surgery you are having, but wanted to let you know my mom had a SI fusion done and is singing her praises of the procedure and the surgeon.

Much like sijexpert stated, my mom's surgery has done great things for her. She is four weeks into recovery and is anxious to get off the crutches, but has noticed significant reduction in pain already. She was given the same restrictions following surgery, so should be off crutches in two weeks hopefully.

Her pain immediately following surgery has not been bad for her either. She is already recommending it to anyone she knows.

Good luck! Hope you get the relief you are looking for!

Let me know if you would like to get the name of the doctor that did my surgery. He comes highly recommended. I don't know where you live, but I can help you find a doctor in your area.
