Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a serious disc herniation on L5/S1. Five weeks ago, I have a mild back pain and I visited a Chiropractor. Sadly, things went wrong on the 3rd treatment and I suffered a disc extrusion over at L5/S1. I was in a lot of pain in my right leg (from buttock to my toes). At the moment, I am seeing an Orthopeadic Doctor and was advised that surgery is not out of the equation even after I told him what is my current pain. The MRI showed my right traversing nerve root is compressed by my ruptured disc (nucleus pulposus). I am now having cramps in my right buttock and right calf and numbness in my right foot. The sensation in my right foot has improved slightly. I have lost all my right ankle jerk. I could sit and walk without any pain. But then on the 11th day, my right foot swell up making me hard to walk. Could any one please write to enlighten me on whether I am doing much better so to avoid surgery.
