Feet Swelling

HI,
I was just wandering do any of you have alot of trouble with your feet swelling? I've trouble with it a lot in my left foot which is the side my back is affecting. But since this heat has set in both of my feet look like balloons! I keep propping them up but this is causing even more pain in my legs due to the swelling. I told my Dr. and he said that with back problems some people just swell. I'm not taking anything that would cause it. Anyone know any good ideas to help with this?
Thanks

Feet Swelling

Hi Morris 8790,

I have sciatic pain in my left leg and foot. I also had foot surgery in Oct/08 for a morton's neuroma (inflamed nerve) between my third and fourth toes on my left foot. As of three weeks ago, the incision site on my left foot is swollen and remains so today. I went to my podiatrist and he scratched his head as to what could be happening as the surgery was so long ago and my incision site healed just fine. He gave me antibiotics just in case.

I am on tramadol and lyrica. I understand from some people on this site that lyrica can cause your feet to swell. But, like you, I'm in dismay as to why I'm having this problem. Maybe, our doctor was right saying the some people just swell -- I certainly can't explain it.

That said, you asked for ideas -- have you tried soaking your feet in Epsom Salts or maybe an ice bath to help with the discomfort. I also find my pharmacist to be of great help. Maybe you should try chatting with our pharmacist about your problem ---He/She may have some suggestions. If I come across anything else which might help you, I'll PM you.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Thanks deltalady and Straker

Thanks for your help. I do have a circulation problem in my left ankle from veracious veins and they want to give me injections for those but my cardio vas. doc won't touch me until my pinched nerve issues are dealt with. So I am told to just deal with it. but the thing is, is that my feet never swelled like this before I injured my back and they haven't put me on any diuretics to even help the situation. Between the nerve pain and now the swelling its almost unbearable to walk! And with my injury being w/c no one wants to do much of anything. In the last 7 months they have checked me twice for a blood clot and done blood work I will find out the results Monday on that they are checking me for Lupus and think I may have Fibro.
so we'll see what the Dr. says Monday. Really a crazy situation 7 months ago before my injury I was a pretty healthy person and now everything on my body seems to be going to &@#$! Crying

I had rt. leg swelling and

I had rt. leg swelling and especially in foot post surgery they did a sonar doplar to check for blood clots but it came back negative. One thing I tried to do alot of was to get out and do some type of cardio exercises not intense but like long walks and if I could get on a stationary bike or even some cardio machines at gym which were more like gliding type machines very easy on the back. But I noticed when I did not do anything it would come back. Especially at night.

I find the recumbent excercise bicycle has helped

with my leg swelling as well my Dr gave me lasix as a small dose. I'm only on 150 mg of Lyrica and the cymbalta has helped with the leg pain and swelling also. Heating pad on the leg helps also but at first I was putting ice on my feet because they were so swollen. I hhope you find something to help. Charry
