Leg Tightness

My Question to everyone is how many of you have persistent Leg muscle tightness from the hamstrings down behind the knees and calves???????????????????? This is my main symptom and my doctor said it is a form of sciatica but when you look up sciatica symptoms not many sites say leg tightness is a symptom. They mostly just say leg pain. I have a Central Herniation and am wondering if that is why i get more tightness instead of the sharp shooting pains. I would love to hear some of your responses and maybe some solutions to helping with the tightness. Thanks!!!

I feel it

I have tightness in my calf and hamstring as well as numbness and pins and needles feeling which is said to be sciatic. It's gotten worse since I had my fusion. I am glad you are doing research. You are your best advocate and doing as much research as possible is your best bet. That's how I found this site and I'm glad that I did.

research

Yea im glad i found this site too because at first research was getting me in trouble. I was so afraid that I had something much worse than a herniation like ALS or something because with the tightness i get a bunch of twitching, but i do get the tinglyness from time to time too but not so much the numbness.

leg tightness

Hi, I had an L5-S1 microdiscectomy almost 2 months ago to fix a very large herniation. Prior to the surgery I had horrible pain all through my hip, hamstring, and calf, and the sleeping/numb/tingling foot. Post surgery much of the severe pain is gone but I describe what remains as a tightness in my calf and hip. My surgeon says that since my leg nerves were being crushed for 6 months that it might take them 6 months to heal post surgery. I hope he is right.

my legs are tight too

I have developed tightness with both legs after L4-L5 microdiscectomy in June 2007. Prior to surgery I had pain and tingling along the entire left leg.
After surgery tingling is mostly gone, however leg tightness gives me even more troubles. Otherwise I am pretty flexible
and doctors do not find anything wrong with me. I have tried muscle relaxant which did not work. I walk a lot ( through the pain ). Some stretches temorarily ( for several minutes ) relieve the tightness. Otherwise I am not able to find a way to relieve my symptoms.

I too have had alot of bad

I too have had alot of bad leg pain. My thigh above my left knee is tight with spasms and trembles, then expans to the back of my thigh up to my hip and down the back of my calf to my foot. I cannot find a comfortable position Worried . I told my PM and he gave me samples of AMRIX a muscle relaxer.I tried it at night for bed and it helps settle the muscles so I can get some sleep. Otherwise I have been taking Zanaflex which is not quite as effective for me anymore. I am thinking of switching to AMRIX at night or maybe even try it during the day when I'm not working.
If I am late or miss taking my Neurton during the day I really pay for it Crying and it takes even longer to calm the pain even with percocet.

I have that

I have hamstring tightness , it's been my main symptom I was treated for a hamstring sprain before the back. I get ultra sound and a deep message for it twice a week. I also get the major butt ache and some bad foot pain in the toes and in the middle and also burning and tingles. I was alot better but I skipped 3 weeks at the pt's everything came back so i'm back to square one.
