Okay, so I've had my MRI. It shows that I have matter protruding from my L5 disk that is putting pressure on and displacing the S1 Nerve root. My doctor says the next step is the pain doctor. So I call for an appointment and the first one I can get is April 16. This is Feb. 2! What am I supposed to do with this pain until then? It has taken over my life. The pain medicine (Vicodin) my doctor gave me is not helping at all. I am also taking Gabapentin for the nerves. The combination of those two drugs makes me groggy and unsteady on my feet.

I don't know where to turn next. I live in a little tiny community without much options for doctors. Any suggestions?
