T2-T3 Herniation

I have recently been dignosed w/ a Herniated Disc at T2-T3. The pain has been ongoing for about 3mths. I had several different test's done before finally having an MRI on my thoracic spine. The Doctor told me Herniation's never happen at that level. The MRI showed that the Herniated Disc Displacement is Mild, but the pain has been awful. I Have pain in my shoulder blades, that wraps underneath my arms and around to my chest. I have pain when I press on the bone between my breast's. The pain will also radiate down my arms. I find it impossible to sit at a desk all day or in a car. I would like to know if the pain I am describing is typical, and if I can expect my pain to improve. I am doing PT and I am taking Anti-Inflam. I was also given a round of Steroids which has not helped. I have the Option of doing the Cortizone shot, but I am trying to make it a last option.

hi boosa 1

welcome to spine health. i am a person in pain too. its just another of lifes troubles. i have really good news for you. the odds are in your favor!!!! over 90% of back pain from disks goes away in a few years.
just because the herniation is mild doesnt mean pain cant be terrible. the center of the disk is a fluid and if it leaks out it can cause terrible pain when in contact with nerves. this leakage may not even show on mri.
has physical therapy been suggested?
if you read the information provided by spine health and read posts by other people you will become knowledgeable about your problem. sometimes its good just knowing youre not alone.
hope you start to improve....pete

Yes, I am in Physical

Yes, I am in Physical Therapy now. I really want to try healing w/out the cortizone shot or too many pain pills. I am 33 years old and I am afaid if i start the shots now, will I have to continue to do it? Thanks for responding, I have not been able to find very much information on Thoracic Displacement.
Thanks again
