I am knew to this site and am having some trouble with pain that my doctor’s or I can figure out.
I slipped my disc at L5-S1 when I was 21 and went through the back and leg pain, had surgery and symptoms continued, (failed back surgery syndrome) had to live with that pain and no meds for about 8 years. I then could not walk and was rushed in for another discectomy. This one got rid of the leg pain for a short period and I was OK for a while but then I was hit by a car. At that point I had a fusion done at L5-S1, (BAK Titanium Cages)
That was about 4 years ago and ever since I am unable to sit without pain and cannot stand for longer than ten minutes at a time. Frustrating. I am now 41 and am seeing a pain specialist. We have tried the PT, and shots everywhere, they are only making my condition worse. We thought it may be coccydynia but after the last shot to the coccyx brought about more pain, my doctor and I are stumped. He has me on percocet and relaxants but it does not really help. I see him again on the 19th and I know he wants to do another shot into the S1 nerve root. No Way. Any suggestions or ideas on what direction to go in?
Oh and also what other medication may be more effective?
