New pain

For the last few weeks I have been experiencing horrible leg pain but only at night. My legs ache so bad it is impossible to sleep. Could this be related to my neck issues? Anyone else out there experiencing this? I have tried pillows under, between, over and every which way you can think of to ease the pain. Do you think I should call my surgeon just to be safe? Any suggestions at this point would be appreciated.

Hi Susan,I've had appalling

Hi Susan,

I've had appalling leg-ache my entire life and always at night. I recently discovered in some cases, it can be part of, 'Restless Legs Syndrome', although I always swore it was linked to a number of things, like stress, menstruation, pregnancy, immune deficiency.

For me, it's like having toothache in your bones and prevents you from sleeping. My daughter has had it in her arms since she was about 9.

If we're talking about the same thing, there's no cure, but it's treatable. From memory, there are a few things which can suppress it to differing extents, but these are the ones which worked best for me: NSAIDS (brufen, not diclofenac!), dihydrocodeine phosphate, gabapentin/neurontin and oxycodone.

Sometimes one doesn't work, but another does and sometimes they have to be used together (ie NSAIDS + codeine). Mine is always 1,000 x worse with stress and illness, so perhaps you've always had it and it's now become worse.

Bye, Val

Hi Susan,

For the past several months, I have been having the same discomfort you describe. Wakes me up frequently at night, but I also get it alot during the day and have to recline on my couch for a bit. I am going to discuss this with my rheumatologist when I see him next week. Maybe he'll give me an idea why, if so, I'll pass it on to you.

Best wishes to you,

Marianne

Hi Susan

I've been having same problem with achey legs lately but not muscle cramps.

I think I remember seeing that drinking tonic water before you go to sleep is good for preventing muscle cramps. I'll have to research it more and let you know.

Take care,

Judy

Susan & Judy

I swear by Tonic water. It contains quinine, which helps with the muscle spasms. I drink it throughout the day. I'm sitting here at 2:20am because my legs are aching so bad. I had to work an extra day today, and it was a frustrating day. One place held me up over a half hour, and one place, that is about 20blocks out of the way, was closed when I got there Angry They didn't even let me know. I guess for Halloween. Or Dia de los muerotos. (Day of the Dead) Then had to backtrack, and got lost. By then it was full dark. They are building new onramps to the freeway, and changed the whole area. So by the time I got back 45 min late, I was tense, frustrated, and pis**d off Big Grin . I wonder if the stress and tension make my back and legs worse? I have taken my Tramadol, Cymbalta, neurontin, and Baclofen. Maybe I can sleep soon. Hang in there everyone, someday we will all be healed Angel
