Just diagnosed with Scoliosis

Good morning all - finally saw the spine doc yesterday for the first time and after doing a few X-rays, he came in and told me that I have "right sided scoliosis". I think he said the curve was 28% but really can't remember. He is sending me for some PT for 2-3 sessions and then he wants me to do the exercises on my own. He says that he does not like to have a patient go to PT for tons of sessions because it is so expensive and most, if not all the exercises can be done at home. Anyway, he also suggested a "bone scan" and he said it is not the same as a DEXA Scan. What is the difference? One other thing he said was that the scoliosis was NOT causing my pain. How can that be? He never found anything else wrong when he looked at the X-rays so if that is not causing the pain, what in the world is? Thanks all for your input, it is greatly appreciated. Right now, he told me to take tramadol and wait to see if the PT works.

hi tausgrama

hi i'm pete and i've been on this site for 6 weeks. i am sorry you are in pain. your dr is being very thorough in ordering bone scan. it will tell him the condition of your bones not just the density but how well they are. bone marrow is responsible for the condition of your blood. bone scans can detect problems like certain kinds of cancer. here is a link to a brief description of the bone scan.http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bone-scan/MY00306/DSECTION=why%2Dits%2Ddone
good luck with your test. by the way what kind of pain do you have
pete
