MRI with herrington rod

I had herrington rod surgery in 1979 and am now having low back and right hip pain. X-rays did not show anything abnormal so my spine specialist wants to do an MRI. He thinks my rod is made of titanium, but I'm not sure. I was 14 at the time and my medical records have been passed form doctor to doctor and lost somewhere along the way.

Does anyone know the material used back then? My MRI is scheduled for the day after tomorrow.
