I'm sorry - but you made me laugh - "So, what does this all mean???? I can't fall asleep and when I am sleeping, I am not doing it right!"

Basically that's exactly what it means. Why did you wake up? Was it due to pain?

I have the same problem. I can't fall asleep. Without my Ambien, I'd hardly ever sleep. Sometimes, I feel so tired, and think maybe I'll skip it tonight and see how it goes. Then around 2:30 to 3:00 am I give up and take something to sleep.

WITH my Ambien, I sleep about 4 or 5 hours. Wake up due to pain.

Sometimes just knowing I will wake up in pain prevents me from going to sleep. As long as I am awake I stay busy. Can't sit or stand too long, so while awake, I am up and down up and down.. It's a crappy place to be, my world.

When do you see your doc again? Hope your doctor can give you some good advice on your sleep. We all need sleep so our bodies can rest and rejeuvenate. Best wishes to you for that!

Jeaux

I feel like I am going crazy! Silly

I wake for a minute or two or what feels like a minute or two because the muscle spasms are terrible at night. Then it eventually aggravates the neuropathy pain and I find myself in the middle of the perfect storm.

I am up & down for about 4-6 hours every night and then actually sleeping is still hit or miss. If I do fall asleep, I have to get up when my daughter does. She is 12 y/o and has Down Syndrome.

I have tried EVERY & ALL of the sleep medicines and none of them have even made me drowsy.

I am waiting for the sleep specialist office to call me back with my appointment date.

Thanks for your post.

Sincerely,
Camille

I don't remember what it is like 2 sleep

My sleep depro is coused by varing factors. At the time pain & stress being at the top of the list. I fall asleep eating to wake up still chewing 1 to 10 minutes later after fighting for hours to fall asleep. My saying is " The only time I am not in pain is when I am asleep, until the pain wakes me up. When you have such severe long term(years) sleep depro, it is hard to think, you are grouchy, and worst of all it makes the pain worse. With many meds I got a 2 week reprieve from this. Now things have changed. I have b=no answers for a solution, I only know (unless it has changed) that there is only one documented case of death by sleep depro. In my case I wake up smacking my feet & legs to wake them up as that sometimes is what woke me up. For all who suffer with sleep disorders from your pain, I can relate. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them, as nothing I have tried has worled for long if at all. I wish us all sleep. and understanding from those around you, especially your Drs' to take this very serious. I hope none of you ever get it as bad as I have it. (On a funny note- gotta laugh at something. It is funny to start eating, wake up with food all over yourself or this is my favorite, I reach for my morning coco to take a sip, and fall asleep mid sip to wake up with hot coco in my lap, all over me. (Of course I am mostly bed bound) But haha on me. Gotta laugh, crying did'nt work. Best of luck to all whp suffer fro, this. If you do not have it this bad 1) I hope you never do & count your blessings. It is not possible to pretend to be upbeat when you are on a downswing of no sleep.Sleep well ( as well as you can) good night.

Trazadone

I have been taking trazadone(antidepressant) since 2002 for sleep. This has hepled me so much! I usually get 8 hours of sleep. In severe pain the time is cut shorter but I still sleep. This med has been a life saver for me. I wish you good luck in your search for sleep. Without sleep your body just can't make those repairs it needs.
