#6 Epidural done that's it for this year

I had some relief for back pain after a normal Diagnostic procedure you get at around my age and had fairly good relief for back pain. I'm going today for my 5th epidural and nerve blocks and facet joint injections and will mention it to my PM Dr. but my Family Dr. gives my pain meds so will ask if it's possible if she would recommend Fentanyl to my Dr. who will not give it to me unless the PM Dr. orders it.

Also prayers and positive vibes today for me as it's difficult getting injections with no sedation. Thanks for your support. Charry

Yes, the fentanyl was good

Yes, the fentanyl was good for back pain. I just found it made me super fuzzy. Yet, so does the MS-contin, so maybe there is no free lunch- I go again today, and might ask to switch to oxy just to try it. Ugh.

Charry, how did this ESI go?

I know it may be too early, but hopefully, you will get some pain relief from this one.

Thanks

The shots went well today! Hardly felt a thing. PM Dr. said after my 6th ESI in October she will consult with me and let my Family Dr. know how I'm doing and if still needing pain meds will recommend Fentanyl patch to my Dr. Charry

Hi Charry

I'm glad to hear that all went well.

I've had Epidural Lysis procedures performed twice in the last two months for scar tissue and they used Fentanyl to sedate me during the procedure. Afterwards, I walked out of the office virtually pain free from the Fentanyl and I felt pretty good for several hours. Thus, I can see why you would want this type of pain relief! I would like it as well.

I do find it a little disconcerting that the discharge instructions say not to sign any legal contracts for 24 hours. It's a little funny because I don't feel like my judgment is impaired (although my wife may feel differently, but then again, she would say that medication or not! LOL).

Charry, you are such a compassionate and giving person, so I'm praying that this all works out for you. You most certainly deserve it!

Take Care,
Dave

Hi Charry,

I hope you are finding some pain relief this weekend. If you do end up on fentanyl patches, they worked very well for me when I used them.

Hi Charry...

I hope you are receiving great pain relief from your 5th set of injections. I always follow your posts and say prayers for every injection you get and any other procedures you post.

It's good to hear about the Fentanyl relief you received. I'm still on the Oxycontin and Percocet blend, but sometimes the Oxycontin doesn't seem to be working as long as it used to? I take my Oxycontin every 8 hours, but it seems to be wearing off around the 4 hour time-frame. I honestly don't want to increase the Oxycontin, due to some titrating issues I had coming down from the big dose of it.

Thanks for sharing and I wish you continued relief.

Tammy

I had #6 epidural Oct. 7

Thank goodness #6 epidural this year and final one. I also had nerve blocks in my hip and butt and SI joints and facet joints from L1-5. I have to go back Nov. 17th to get my assessments for the treatments and if I'm not feeling better she will recommend the Fentanyl patch to my Family Dr. who gives my meds. If these don't help I think I'll have to apply at the hospital to see a PM Dr. there and maybe they do facet joint RFA there. I hope there's no damage getting so many epidurals in one year.. Charry
