Had Lumbar facet joints today.
Hi all,
I had my lumbar facet joint injections today.
They did 2 shots one on each side of L3. I was a nervous wreck for no reason.
They did give me versed which I did not feel figures LoL
They got me on the table. I felt a slight pinch on one side, then they had me turn a bit and I felt another pinch.
They said ok time to get up. HUH??? WHAT?? , YOUR DONE?????
I FOR SURE thought it was going to be the burning of the numbing needle then alot of pressure just like the SI joint. NOPE!!!
The Dr said I have been doing these 15 yrs verses the other Dr who only has been doing them 5yrs. Wow what a difference it makes when someone is so experienced. I'm so ready for my cervical in 2 weeks!!
Question is. Has anyone else had a bruised/deep ache just crappy feeling after??
I was like this after my ESI for T1, but just my back felt beat up.
Nothing is touching it. I feel like I was hit by a mac truck and no one told me.
Any feedback is great.

IBS, Osteo Arthritis, Fibro, Chronic kidney stones.
L5/S1 fusion w/ hardware own bone graft 9/2007
Proximal row carpectomy (3 bones removed out of wrist)08
T1-T2 large herniation with severe thecal sac compression. mild cord compression
9/17/08 Revision for non-fusion of lumbar L4-S1. Still sore. Angiogram 11/08,
11/24/08 Aortic Bi-Fem bypass surgery through the belly&thighs due to MIN. circulation in both legs, 90% blockage in left valve in my belly 
Very sore.(IT WORKED!)Its not easy but ya HAVE to keep going or it will get to you first :)Former meds used: Oxycontin, Morphine, Fentynl patches, Methadone, Lortab, Ultram, Sklexin, Flexril, Norflex, Percocet, Dilaudid, MS. Contin. Kadian
Current meds: Valium, Soma, Chantix, Plavix May 09 scheduled for, 4 nerve blocks for facet joints cervical 7 & lumbar 3.

I've had 3 sets of fji's and always feel heavy and feel like I was hit by a truck also. Put ice. I haven't decided to go in for more I find them painful and although it does eventually feel better I don't know if there's any difference now. I wish I got sedation first. Actually the last time didn't seem to hurt as much one side and wondered if he went deep enough. I hope you feel better Terri. Charry
My 2nd MRI showed no herniated disc and no stenosis. Mild loss of signal intensity in intervertebral discs L1-S1 and mild loss of height from L1-L4. Mild DDD throughout the lumber spine. Still have back pain and some leg tingling, numbness though. 3rd opinion Neurosurgeon Oct. 6, 2009.
1st report last year Feb. 2008.
L5-S1 herniated disc with annular tear with disc material in contact with L5 exiting nerve, arthropy facet joints L4-L5. 5 Epidurals. Facet joint injections and 64 trigger point injections. Off work 21 months due to back and leg pain. Not a surgical candidate x 2 Ortho opinions. (history C5-7 osteoarthritis and DDD)
Infrared Platinum heating pad 4x/day and while sitting.
MS Contin 120mg, Cymbalta 60mg, lasix 20mg, Diovan for B/P . oxazepam 30mg for sleep. Excercise ball, recumbent stationary bicycle 30 mins. day, posture-pump for lower back. Tried PT, accupuncture, traction. Pool therapy Oct. 27/2009

Thanks so much Charry. I thought something might be wrong and I should call. Ya think they would explain this in the paper work. I mean it says possible increased pain. But I never had any pain in my legs etc.. So I was like Huh???
Its such a deep horrid ache. I will do ice, but I think I will wrap up in the heating blanket to. Hard to ice both legs and bottom lol
I was totally amazed at having no pain with the needles. Actually SHOCKED is more the word.. I'm used to taking 10mg of valium 3x's a day so I did not even feel the effects of the 2mg of versed she jabbed in my arm. I won't even need that next time, thats how FAB this Dr. is~~~~
