I was diagnosed with "some type of spondyloarthritis", and this particular one, spondyloisthesis, is one my rheumatologist is seriously looking at right now. The strength of my core was something she checked thoroughly, and she was also very interested in whether or not I know how to strengthen the multifidus muscles (which I do). I got a thumbs up from her, so I'm glad I stuck with the stretch and strength program I learned at a residential pain clinic last year.
I have just finished week two of a three week trial of Flurbiprofen (Froban), which has made an incredible difference in my pain levels; I was averaging 6 to 8 on the pain scale every day (higher when things really flared up), and since I've been on this new NSAID, my pain is between 4 and 6 each day, with a rare 7 or 8. Quite a change. When I spoke to the doctor today, she said that people with this particular type of arthritis respond well, and very quickly, to Froban, so I'm hoping there may be a light at the end of the tunnel!!
Good luck - hope you make some progress.
Tracy
