Spinal Stenosis
VERY scared of cancer pls help

Hi guys, was not sure where to post.
For 3 months I have been getting shooting pains in my spine, lower back pain and sensitivity to my spine where my bra strap hits. Along with this I am getting migratory bone/joint pains in my body, tingling leg, muscle twitches everyewhere and extreme joint cracking all in my body. I have had blood tests for EVERYTHING-all clear. I had a full body bone scan-clear, though there was a curve in my spine.

I just found out yesterday I have basel cell skin cancer on my chest. This kind rarely mets to other areas and is easiest to treat. Have no clue how long I have had it.

I am SOO scared I have spine cancer. My question to you is if I did have spine cancer would it have shown up in my bone scan? I am nervous as I know the spine is not just made up of bones right? Please help me!!!

In the meantime I am getting an MRI of head and spine next week to rule out other things for my pain etc, like MS etc..

You would have any bony

You would have any bony metastases(spread of cancer to other body areas) show up definitely on a bone scan.
Bone cancer usually causes severe constant pain localized to a specific bone in your body....
IMO it is highly unlikely your basal cell cancer has spread to the bones.
A bone scan is the test used to rule out spread of any type of cancer to the bones.
You should be OK!

not to worry!

when i had severe back pain my doctor sent me for a bone scan to make sure i didn't have bone cancer,it came back clear so that was ruled out.If your bone scan showed nothing then you don't have bone cancer. Try not to worry about it until you have all your results back. Good Luck!! Wink

hi

hi sweetie,
yes don't be alarmed. of course remember we are all not specialists just patients trying to give you some hope.
the bone scan would of showed all. if its clear then in my mind there should be no worry or the dr would of started you on treatment asap.
cancer even shows up on a simple xray when its to the point of causing pain.
and all your blood levels are normal etc...

my gram had the same cancer on her face. it was removed by laser.

bone scan only shows the bone. no muscle or disks etc.

there are many illnesses etc that mimmick the kind of pain your describing. have you been to a rheumatologist??? to check for fibromyalgia/chronic fatige syndrome etc?????? just throwing punches out there.

let us know how you make out with the MRI. i see you have not posted since the 5th.

good luck and hang in there!!!
