I may have a spinal fluid leak. I see the doc tomorrow morning. Has anyone else had this? How long does it take to resolve? I've been dizzy and have headaches for 4 days.
I talked to the doc on the phone and he put me on bed rest and lots of fluids. I'm so bored and sick of having headaches and dizziness! Anyone know anything about this? I looked it up online and read horror stories about meningitis and brain surgeries. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Hey I hope your doing better. Write back to tell us what He said.
I have been on bed rest for 12 days. The first week after surgery I was doing great but then I got all headachy and dizzy. I'm supposed to only get up to use the bathroom. The headaches are getting better but I still get dizzy if I'm upright for too long.
I saw the doc this morning and he said since I'm slowwwly getting better to just stick with the bed rest rather than try a blood patch for a possible leak. It's tedious being stuck on bed rest but I'm trying to be a good patient. My back feels really good since the surgery though.
I was supposed to go back to work tomorrow, my three-week anniversary since I had surgery, but the doc said it may be three more weeks until I can go back.
Timae, have you decided to pursue another surgeon since this guy canceled on you? Good luck with whatever you decide.

gran I am confused - why don't your Dr just give you the blood patch? This is HORRIBLE! I feel so bad for you

the doc is very conservative (he doesn't want to do any procedures if he doesn't think they're totally necessary) and thinks my body is healing itself, just slowly. but if I'm not significantly better by my appointment next Wed, I'm going to beg for the blood patch.
