Since the Michale Jackson affair and his death due to allegedly a pain management Dr.
Has your P.M. Dr. gotten "gun shy" And started to prescribe less than needed. And not wanted to prescribe more for "Pain spikes" or surgery rehabilitation?

My PM hasn't changed anything. Actually, I believe Dr. Murray was a Cardiologist who was dabbling in medications he had no legit reason to be using.
If MJ needed help sleeping I can attest that Ambien would probably knock him out for a good 8 hours! Worked on me.

part of pain management, and should not enter into the equation. Nor should it ever be administered by a non anesthesia provider, IMHO. Unless you are really good at airway management, you should never give propofol, and there always has to be a plan for ventilating a patient once it is given.
There may be other reasons that pm doctors are reluctant to prescribe additional meds but that situation was completely unethical on so many levels.

The DEA was caught looking like fools that weren't doing their jobs. And I'll bet their looking for a fall guy to make an example of. Like you guys said, it wasn't even their jobs. So what better place is there to look for a fall guy, than someone who actually has the job of being a pain management Dr.
It's a little more personal for me. after being in chronic pain for more than 10 yr.s and 8 surgeries. My P.M. Dr. decided that over the years I was triated up so many times that I needed to be triated down. Hell I just got out of the hospital. Give me a chance to mend and rehabilitate a little bit before we do that! Right now I'm dyin over here. A little help please!

I really know that I have been extremely lucky with my physiatrist. As conservative as she is, she has never been hesitant in writing scripts for narcotics for me, over and over.
She has told me many times, There should never be a problem with a doctor writing narcotic prescriptions, as long as they know that medically it is the correct things to do
Thats why I say I am lucky

I was for over 10 yr.s until the surgeons assistant decided to inform my P.M.Dr. that I was on way to much Meds. She hasn't even been around for ten yr.s And in time there comes a time that the patient (me) Has decided that I'm just DONE WITH PAIN. and my P.m. Dr. and my P.M Psych had agreed wholeheartedly that I just didn't have any quality in my life. So now I have to suffer after a 10 Hr. very invasive surgry. Because this young lady has my team "running scared" And we all knew I was on an awful lot of meds. But it is what it is and it takes what it takes!
