Best pain pill for chronic back pain

I was on Opana and I lost my ins so I wanted to get something cheaper so I got my PM DR to give me methadone which I have not taken yet since I still have opana for the next week or so. Well just yesterday I was approved for medicaid and it will not cover opana but it will most other drugs like ms cotin. What I would like to know is what would be the best relief now. Opana did work good and I will know in a week or so how methadone does. I'm willing to try something else if it does not work since I have coverage now.

Seek some support and help for this.

It is not beneficial to suggest that one medication alone is preferable to another, all our pain and experience differ, the key is to find what works for you, through usage and support from your doctor, it has to be a collective decision. The benefits v the impact of side effects short and longer term, some meds work for us as individuals and others not as well.

Even though I have taken medication for many, many years I have a frequent reviews, of what is still working or what my potential options are, although once we find that specific recipe that works for us we are reluctant to change, this should be in consultation with your professional health care provider. If you are unsure how what, why or when to use your medication, seek advice from the doctor who prescribed it.

It is in those small tweaks of change that success is gleaned, change one aspect at a time, to manage chronic pain more efficiently, do everything to make it better and nothing that makes it worse.

Make a better v worse list.

Take care and be kind to yourself.

Methadone

I was on methadone for 2 years, and honestly it was the best med, that I've had in 8 1/2 years. The one thing about methadone is that's really, really cheap, and not only takes care of mechanical pain, but it will also help neuropathic pain. The one thing about methadone that most Doc's don't tell you, is that methadone takes a few days to kick in, so you might not find inmmediate pain relief, but with continues use, it gets better.

I was wheened of the methadone about 5 months ago, since I was supposed to be getting an intrathecal pain pump trial; but just my luck, I fractured 4 bones the night before I had to show up for the trial, so right now I am on Fentanyl patch, and waiting to see my new PM; since I moved, to see if we can try the pump again.

OK, the decision is yours, but ask your Doc what his opinion is between pain meds that contain morphine, hydromorphone, etc. and methadone, I did that with my old PM, and he told me that if it was him the one deciding what to use, he would pick methadone.

Take care, and I hope that you get all this clear soon.

Info

I started taking my methadone today. I had to cut the pill in half and take one half twice a day for 7 days then take one pill twice a day. They are 10mg. Will know more about how it compares to Opana soon. Just so blessed to have gotten my medicaid coverage last week. That is one worry I don't have any more.
