Butrnas Patch VS. Fentanyl Patch

What are your opinions on the Fentanyl, and Butrans patch?

I know that no one is a doctor and doens't know my complete medical history, I'm just looking for your opinions. Which worked better for you? How strong were you on? Did you have any side effects?

Thanks,

David

Also

Which muscle relaxers have you tried? Which worked the best? How much strength were you on?

I'm on 10mg of Flexeril 3x a day. I don't think it's doing anything to speak of.

not sure on the patches but

not sure on the patches but I have taken tons of different muscle relaxers. The flexerils made me really sleepy so I take 10 mg of baclofen 4 times a day. They do help some with the spasms in my shoulder but I also get botox in my shoulder every 3 to 6 months and that really helps the spasms

Have tried both fentanyl and butrans

The fentanyl patch didn't work for me, can't remember the dose but just didn't work, what little relief I got would go away on the third day. Dr gave me a persciption to change every 2 days but only mildly effective. I am on butrans 10mcg/hr now change patch ever 7 days. The effectiveness does not last the full 7 days but I get enough relief that i'm ok with that.
For muscle relaxers have tried flexeril, soma, robaxin, skelaxin, some work better during the day, i.e. you don't get the zombie feeling. Now I'm on amrix 15mg - it's an extended release form of flexeril i take two hours before bed, I wake up without the groggy feeling. We all react differently to meds. Work with you Dr. to find what
is right for you.

I was put on the Butrans

I was put on the Butrans patch and quickly taken off. I had a severe headache and ended up in the ER. Still not quite sure if it was the patch though. I've taken many different opiods and narcotics and never had an adverse reaction. I'm thinking the headache was from a sinus polyp I have and a severe sinus infection.

Hope you get some relief!

I have used the Butran patch

I have used the Butran patch 10mcg with good relief. They take about a day to kick in. My pain goes from a 7-8 to a about a 3. I have had several ESi's the take my pain completely away. They seem to work for weeks to months. 2 injections ago lasted for over 5 months. This last one about 3 months and is wearing off now. So I'll be back on the patch until my PM returns from his vacation.
