it was a thorough test, sent it off and had to come in for results, showed everything including muscle relaxants..also had a false positive for a sleep agent i dont take sleeping meds because i have a 1 year old daughter and they knock me out..i read that sometime hydrocodone can show up a false positive for hydromorphone because of all the breaking down the meds do..metabolize? or something i have no idea but very upset because i know for a fact sleeping meds and this hydromorphone i did not take..i have had surgery on L5/S1 level microdiscectomy partial hemi-laminectomy and now ive got more problems with my back. in the upper part, feels like someone is playing tug a war with my spine pain radiates to my ribs with severe burning that dont stop sometimes feels like i am having a heart attack when the pain gets really intense feels like i have a bowling ball on each shoulder and have severe migraines..i am 21 years old and too young to be goin through this, drs cant seem to find the problem, do u have any suggesions??
Are you seeing an Ortho surgeon or a Neurosurgeon? The reason that I ask, is because you mention that you had those procedures, and he doesn't know why you are in pain. How you gotten a second opinion at all? If I was you, I would try to find a good Neurosurgeon, take all of your CT's, MRI's, etc. and tell the Doc, that after the 2 procedures, you are still in pain, and that you want to know why. Most Doctor's do not mind if their patient's get second opinions, and you are not in any type of obligation, of telling your current Doc that you are seeking answers somewhere else, after all like you said; you are too young for all of these issues and you need some answers.
As far as the drug test, I've heard of false positives due to metabolization, and also if you take any supplements that your Doctor does not know about, this could also affect a test, so make sure to mention to your Doc about every vitamin, herbal teas, etc.. that you take, maybe that will answer why the test showed a false positive. Good luck, and take care.

I am currently in the process of finding a different neurosurgeon. The one that done my surgery acted like he didn't care anymore (after he got his money) after surgery n released me. I have a 1 year old daughter and this makes things super hard on me and the pain is depressing. Iam trying for a re test on the drug screen bc I know that "hydromorphone" wasn't in my system bc I didn't know what it was till I looked it up after the drug test results. I had an mri on my c-spine today I need answers soon. I can't keep playing this guessing waiting game ya know?
I am so sorry that you are going through all of this, specially been a young mother; bless your heart! Anyway's, the same happened to me after my 1st surgery. The surgeon that did it, had to do an emergency surgery on me 4 weeks after my 1st fusion, because of complications, and after doing those 2 surgeries back to back, I started to have more problems, what did he do? He started to act like a jerk, so I went ahead and found a new Neuro, and that Neuro not only had to perform two more surgeries in order to fix some of the problems that I had from surgery 1 and 2, but he also gave me a referral to a pain management Doctor, and he helped me out inmmensely! So honey, find a Doc that will help you, that will give you the care that you deserve, so you can back to be mommy to your little girl. I am new here, but please keep me posted in your progress, OK?
God Bless,
Enid

Wow, how long have you been seeing that doctor? Can you talk to him/her about it and ask for a retest?
