New pain medication
So is the local media going nuts in every state right now about the new proposed pain medication "Zohydro"? It's sad to see how many people are coming out to attack a medication when they should be attacking those who enable others to abuse medication.
Hopefully this medication will be beneficial to those who truly need the relief.

I had to look up Zohydro, it is just plain hydrocodone without the tylenol.
I have seen the wacky stories about this dangerous "new" drug that they may figure out how to make in another year from now! I have been taking "pure" compounded hydrocodone for about 6 years now. Tried many other opiates that didn't work or stopped working and hydro is the best for me. But I take too much to have the tylenol in it so the doctors have prescribed it compounded plain.
ABC had an article on-line about it and I even wrote to them trying to explain but never heard back.
Why does tylenol have to be in so many opiates? Some people think it is to discourage addicts.?! I think it is just $$$$$$.
In 1995 I fell from a height of about 10 feet and landed on my butt with my legs outstretched. Crushed T9 into a wedge shape plus undetermined injury to tailbone. Since then have added numb feet, a cyst,arthritis and bone spurs at T9, chronic pain, muscle spasms and nausea, scoliosis, and pins and needles. It hurts if I sit so I stand all day long.
OMG, I've heard about this from friends. They go on and on about how it's supposed to be 10 times(whatever number) more addicting than oxycontin! Oh my, let's all get upset! Ugh, the brand may be new but not the drug people!
If only the media personnel and the "friends" who are getting worked up about this could just have one good herniated disc, or maybe a little arachnoiditis? People abuse cold meds, cigarettes, alcohol,caffeine but think this "new" drug is devil's manna and so tempting to all of us addicts.

hmm, I thought it was supposed to be hydrocontin controlled release hydrocodone, I was interested because I think it would be the weakest time release narcotic pain med.
I can see why there would be alot of bad stigma about pure hydrocodone in IR form, hopefully they make it with a gel or something to prevent ppl from crushing them, over here pure oxycodone in IR form is the most widely abused prescription drug. Without tylenol pure hydrocodone would be abused in the same exact ways and may even be easier to get.
EDIT: ahh just googled it, It is gonna be time release! thats good, I think this could be a really good med.
I just read on one site its IR and 10x stronger than Vicodan and pure hydrocodone. It seems a good alternative to those of us with chronic pain who take Oxycontin and need a breakthrough med that's not as strong as Oxycodone. I get Percocet so I would try this as a BTP med.
It's sad that anyone would ever think of abusing a medication. You don't get high you get dead. Just say No kids.
This is great especially as the Tylenol in the original hydrocodone they said 4 grams of Tylenol is okay for your liver now it's down to 3 grams per 24 hours. Maybe in 10 years it'll be down to 2 grams.
Any answers I have is not medical advice only a Doctor can help you with that. Just sharing my personal experience as a fellow Spine Health member only. DDD of lumbar spine with sciatica to left hip,leg and foot. L4-L5 posterior disc bulge with prominent facets, L5-S1 prominent facets with a posterior osteocartilaginous bar. Mild bilateral foraminal narrowing Neck-reverse Lordosis of c-spine C6-C7 with impingement, numb hand and sore outer elbow. Keep the faith.
I can't find much solid info about zohydro, mostly pages of media sites saying 10X stronger than vicodin. lol, as if it wont come in lower dosages.
A few sites did say It's Extended-release though.

I think 2g max Tylenol per day is already recommended for daily doses. In practice, my dr. and several that I've heard of are trying to cut out all Tylenol for daily use. We definitely need more single drug pills than the combos with Tylenol!

I am not know more about zohydro. This is the New pain medication use to cure back pain. Many people are aware of this medicine but hope, soon it will be the best medicine for back pain and people can can get relief from pain.
