Ever since switching from Lortab to Percocet, I've noticed my tennitis is getting worse. I've had it for years between loud music, fire/EMS and military service. But I can certainly tell a difference in my ears since switching medications.
Anyone else have that problem?

I've taken Morphine and Percocet for about 3 years and have had Tinnitus in my left ear for about as long. My PCP suggested ENT since I also have some intermittent inflammation in that ear only. I haven't followed up with ENT because there doesn't seem to be much they can do for it and it doesn't bother me that much. I was a teenager in the 70's and listen to music & Bands much to loud so I kind of figure that might be part of it. Have you had it checked out?

I'm not going to the doctor for the ringing in my ears. I've had it for a very long time and I know there is nothing they can do for it, except collect my co-pay's and recommend useless tests (which will cost more money).
It's just strange that the ringing is louder after I take the medicine.

Keith:
I have had tinnitus for about 30 years thanks to military service, weed eaters and chain saws. I, too, have noticed that use of percocet lowers the trigger threshold for the ringing. You may be old, but you are not crazy.

I get a magazine called neurology today in the mail. It has an article about Tinnitus. Haven't read it yet, will let you know if it says anything new. When I checked into what happens if you go to the doctor, it did seem to be a waste of my precious medical insurance and co-pays.

The info. is not much different than I have read previously. I only have Tinnitus in one ear and it does mention Acoustic Neuroma and Vascular disease as more likely but still rare. It does mention Neurologic disorders but not which ones that it is associated with. Treatment's are about the same. Not very promising. It doesn't really bother me that much so I probably won't have it checked out as I am soooo tired of expensive tests. Here's a link to the website. I get the magazine in the mail so I haven't signed up to this site. The magazine is interesting to me because I am an OT. I covers somethings interesting to spineys also.
