High Heels?

I am almost three months post op from my fusion. Just curious, I have beautiful high heel shoes that I have not worn yet. How long did any of you ladies wait before wearing them? Obviously I know that wearing them for any long amount of time is not good, but how about for a couple hours or so? With parties coming up and not wanting to wear flats with dresses, I was just wondering what to do. Thank you for any opinions on this.

good question

I too will be 3 months on the 24th and although I have trouble walking (in general), I looked in my closet the other day and all my beautiful heels looked soooo sad & neglected Sad I haven't worn them in almost a year and thought, when if ever.....?

Hi Virginia

My surgery was on the 27th of August. Yeah, high heels have been waiting with things like (riding bicycles, dancing, swimming, motorcycles)! How has your recovery been? Back surgery?

I am 2.5 years out my fusion and still can't go higher than a 1.5 inch - its such a shame because I have such beautiful shoes!!

so very sad

to see all those shoes calling to me. And most of mine are at least 2 1/2 to 3 inches. And I don't really want to risk it yet. Sad

I had ALIF L4-5. Slow & complicated recovery thus far! Having a Myelogram on Monday, I have several problematic levels, but opted to only fuse the absolute worse and necessary level. My pain post op is worse then prior.

How about you? What surgery did you have?

Glad you liked the spiney heel shoes, we had a nice laugh with that post.

Thank you Virginia

I had a two-level fusion between L2-L3 and L3-L4. I had suffered for years from sciatic pain. Last May when my back went out It did not get better and in July MRI showed vertibre on vertibre and nerves were completely pinched. I had degenerated disk disease and arthritis.
I actually had a great recovery. Of course there were some bad days. I started walking a mile a day three weeks after surgery, now I am in physical therapy 3X a week and going to the gym a couple times a week. I am weaning off of percocet and that has been really tough.
I hope your appointment on Monday goes well, and I hope your recovery improves. I cannot imagine having surgery and continuing to have a lot of pain after the initial recovery period. I know that I cannot complain, I have been lucky so far. You take care.

I miss my "fancy" shoes

I miss my "fancy" shoes soooooooooooo much :(
It's flats for me forever - boo hoo

L1 - S2 "gone" useless in 1 way or another. DDD. RA. Bone Spurs. Tons of nerve damage/issues. Stenosis. Both knees replaced. 50 yrs old. I had a great fall (hence my user name) at age 41 and it has been a domino effect every since.
