Just looking over the furniture, it seems my classic old spindle-back rocking chair might have the straightest back. Is a rocking chair a poor choice after having L2-3, L3-4 XLIF fusion surgery, other than the risk of it being slightly unstable when getting in and out.
I was told prior to fusion surgery no rocking chairs,why I don't know as I don't have one.

I was told that a rocking chair was good for me, as people tend to sit up straighter in them. BUT after surgery....not sure at all. sorry.
L1 - S2 "gone" useless in 1 way or another. DDD. RA. Bone Spurs. Tons of nerve damage/issues. Stenosis. Both knees replaced. 50 yrs old. I had a great fall (hence my user name) at age 41 and it has been a domino effect every since.

As one who has seven spinal fusions, any kind of chair that is comfortable, SIT IN IT !!!!!!!!!
I would think a rocking chair would be unstable, but that's only my personal opinion. Trying to get out of it when it's moving back/forth would offer no support or confidence at all.
I've heard that an electric recliner chair is very comfy, but sadly I haven't got one, neither can I afford one.
Having said all that, I suppose wherever you are most comfortable would be the best option.
I really hope your recovery is smooth and relatively pain free.

buy yourself an electrical rise and recline recliner and use pillows to pad it out so you can be as comfy as possible .BUT if money is short {who isn't?} a friend of mind bought the SAME chair as mine that cost me 1500 pounds for 200 hundred from ebay or the local paper .i can't remember but there are many electrical rise and recline recliners in the local papers and in loot and other second hand places for a fraction of the original cost because many are bought for {granny] in her last months and sorry to say they are hardly used .but the recliner is the bad backs best friend trust me i live in mine !
