I had facet injections this morning (Superbowl Sunday) at L3-S1. The initial "block" did help one aspect of my pain significantly.....The pain in pelvis beneath the posterolateral illiac crest. Dont know if the pain signal was blocked at the root cause, or between the root cause and the nerve endings simply from the numbing agent in between the two. Just some of my thoughts. Will have to see how I feel in a couple days. As a re-cap I suffer from lumbar, thoracic, and everything in between pain. The doctor says depending on results from the block he would like to try disc ablation.
R_M wow on super bowl sunday you got a Dr to work?
Happy you finally got someone to do something to try to help you
Please keep us updated how this is working for you.
disc ablation - I will need to look that one up. I have heard of other ablations before and even had one myself but never heard of it for disks. I assume it is pretty much the same thing as any ablation but on the disks.

how about ablation in general. IDK whats really ever going through the doctors mind with 100% certainty.
so its been two weeks since the injections. My assessment at this point is that
1) the block helped enough to try it again
2) the cortizone helped a little less, but did help, and has now worn off. two weeks of some relief
Pain management did not do the facet injections, but my doctor recommends seeing them for a second round, as they will be the ones doing the ablation if indicated. If the second block works as well at the first I will get the ablation..... thats the plan anyway. I need to talk to pain management for any additional details or things to think about
I have seen a new neurosurgeon who wants a discogram on L4/5. BUT I did not schedule it, and want to put it on hold while this other plays out. I can only spend so much money, miss so much work, and feel its best to work one angle at a time.
Thanks for the update - I stopped by here several times to see if you had posted.
Happy to hear you are getting "some where" with your treatments
