taste after surgery??

My surgery was about 6 wks. ago (lumbar, fusions, etc. on 3/23). Since then I have not been able to get this horrible metal taste out of my mouth.

Everything I eat tastes terrible. The only thing I can eat at all is icecream, drink milk, or water. Everything else taste terrible.

I left a perfectly good dinner sitting on the table last night as I have every day and night since surgery.

Does anybody have any solution. I have been off my meds for four days now.

Thanks

Six weeks post op

is really not a long time in the scope of everything regarding your spine.
The fact that they had to 'open' part of your cervical area to get to those discs, it doesnt surprise me when more people have similar situations.
At my last spinal surgery (ACDF C6/C7 in 2000), I have paid closer attention. Between the sedatives wearing off, there are numerous of other things you body can and will expericne. One of those could easily be mapped against one of the DelGotto club.
Putting all this aside and assuming I am doing everything I was told to do and those I could no longer do.
That made a big difference in my life. I walked up/down the streets of Danbury, then visiting my wife where she works at the hospital.. All very simple tings, but when you stop for a couple of minutes, you will see that aggressive actions

Hi

It took me about 3 months post fusion. I couldn't think of much that was appetizing to me and just wasn't really ever hungry. I think it is the stress on our body from the surgery. Everyone worried and tried to get me to eat but a few bites and I was done.

Funny thing is prior to surgery I always had my refill cup of carbonated diet coke with me. My poor husband ran to get me one as soon as I got home from the hospital and I didn't like it at all! Still can't drink it and I haven't found anything else I like either...chocolate milk and water, mostly water is all I drink now. Wierd, huh?

But it is much healthier for my bones and health so I'm happy this happened.Oh yea, I liked mashed potatoes and pudding too.

I hope your appetite improves and the horrible taste disappears soon for you.
