Excuse the upper case letters but OMG you will see my choice of them are appropriate as you read. I will try to refrain from their use though.....
My father in law has cancer for the 5th time in about 8 yrs. He is not well at all. He has a full trachea ( meaning he has NO diaphragm, esophagus or anything in his throat areas )he is on Oxygen full time and is very very weak and needs a wheelchair and/or walker ( walker for at home most times ).
He is 75 yrs old.
SO - him and mom are coming home from a cancer treatment and stop in at Walmarts. They park their handicapped access van in the HC spot and dad rides his chair down the ramp. Right as he closes the ramp his O2 whistles and he knows he will not have enough 02 to last in the store, so he sets in his chair at the back of their van. Not behind it but at the rear end side panel. Mom goes around the other side to get a new tank of 02 for him.
This lady ( term used loosely ! ) parked beside him backs up and gets so close to dad he puts his hand out on her car - just an ins-tint reaction , ya know?
She hits him so hard with her car - he flies out of his chair and lands on the pavement. Mom runs around to him and this PERSON ( there that is a better word lol ) gets out of her car, stands over top of dad and screams "what the F ( full word was said ) were you doing"? 
She jumps back in her car and burns tires getting away.
She leave my dad ( he is like a dad to me ) in the parking lot ground with my mom to pick him up and put back in the chair alone.
He is scraped and bruised but all in all is OK.
Mom got the plate # ( Thank God ! ) and charges are to be pressed against this driver. Walmart is turning their film over to the police to help with evidence as to what happened.
Can you image someone hitting you - knocking you OUT of a WHEELCHAIR and standing over you screaming like that?
I still am trying to wrap my brain around anyone acting like this

good on you getting the plate #!!! hmmm hit n run , failure to stop and render aid, ime guessing dwi, no-insurance. DWI coz buzzed driving under any substance is impaired driving, cell phone? was she talking?
mmm...whats her priors, as she the owner of the car? borrowed, stolen???
whats the insurance status?
all these questions will be handled by the attorney you should seek, if not already..

My God, I am so sorry that had to happen. If it was me, that "person" might have had a knuckle sandwich!!! Sounds like what I see in South Florida! Pitiful for sure!!! *HUGS* I don't know if one can get "their brain wrapped" around this incident!
Do you all call the police on this "jerk?" I hope a little scrapes and bruises was all that happened... scary...

Yeah, that site is a hoot!!! I am soooo glad that you DID call the police. Walmart is being supportive and cooperating with them? That is good to hear - it would really be "not good" should such a story end up on the "six o'clock news" huh? Is he okay? Take care.

I am so glad that your father-in-law is OK, also your Mum, it was big shock for them both.
I am glad you are taking action to trace and bring this person to answer and hopefully be charged for what she has done.

First let me say that I'm glad your in-laws are okay. What has happened to compassion in this world?
The Wal Mart that I use is a few blocks from my home. The local police department is housed on the lot to the left and the hospital is directly across the street -- and private security patrols the parking lot -- so any incidents like what happened to your inlaws would be tended to quite quickly.
I do hope this person gets penalized for their actions. Nothing worst than beating up on someone when they're already down.

2010 Update: Sciatica resolved itself but still dealing with fibromyalgia symptoms that come and go. Walking 3 miles a day, fibro permitting.
2011 Update: Back to work since June.
Herniated disk (L5) no surgeries to date, super nasty nerve pain, left leg. 3 epidurals (Jan, Feb 09) (Short term relief) June 09, Second opinion from Ortho doc with new MRI -- not a surgery candidate -- referred to pain management doctor.
