Artificial Disc Replacement Definition

Artificial disc replacement is a surgical procedure in which a diseased or damaged intervertebral disc of the spinal column is replaced with an artificial, man-made device. An artificial disc may be used to replace a disc in either the lumbar spine (lower back) or cervical spine (neck).
