Definition
Radiologist is a medical doctor with specialized training in the use of x-rays to diagnose and treat disease. Radiologists employ various medical imaging techniques such as MRI and CAT scan, in order to analyze cross-sections of the body. Either a radiologist or a trained technician can perform imaging techniques, but only the radiologist is qualified to read and interpret the images for diagnosis. For the treatment of back pain, a radiologist can specialize in the diagnosis of brain and spinal cord injury and disease, failed-back syndrome and degenerative spinal conditions.
