The COX-2 enzyme is a major contributor to the formation of inflammation of the body. This inflammation, though, can hurt rather than than help by causing back pain and chronic pain. A COX-2 Inhibitor medication (such as Celebrex) limits the formation of inflammation by inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme.
