Scoliosis Treatment: Bracing, Surgery, or Observation
Treating Scoliosis or curvature of the spine is most commonly done by one of two procedures. The first is completely external and is a technique called "Bracing". Another solution is surgery, which is often used to correct Scoliosis in severe cases. The final possibility is observation, where you monitor the progression and track whether bracing or surgery is necessary.
Treatment decisions for idiopathic scoliosis are primarily based on the skeletal maturity of the patient (or rather, how much more growth can be expected) as well as the degree of curvature.
