Biodegradation

Definition
Biodegradation is the biological process by which living systems breakdown chemical substances into simpler components or compounds.

Microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast and fungi work to decompose organic substances and contaminants into non-harmful or less harmful byproducts to the environment.
