When an XLIF Might be Performed
The XLIF procedure can be used for a variety of lumbar spinal disorders that may be treated with spinal fusion. These conditions may include:
- Degenerative disc disease (Fig. 1, 2)
- Degenerative scoliosis (Fig. 3, 4)
- Low grade spondylolisthesis (Fig. 5, 6)
- Spinal deformity (Fig. 7, 8)
- Foraminal stenosis (a type of spinal stenosis) requiring disc height restoration
- Recurrent lumbar disc herniations
- A thoracic disc herniation (Fig. 9, 10)
