New member , Glad i found this forum :)

Hello all . My name is art . I am 31 . Where to begin.  .. started with 2 bulging discs and a pinched nerve . Went to a specialist on a friday . He called me that night and said we needed to do an emergency surgery . So i had my first surgery the following monday . Everything went well . Doctor discharged me on my one month follow up ( no more meds ) . Something went wrong . After searching i finally found another specialist ... mri showed bad results . I had 2 injections , those were a joke . Did a year of pt . Doctor said i had to wait 3 years before i could get a new surgery.  So the time came . He did a laminectomy , a decompression,  shaved down my bulging discs again , and fused L4-L5 . 6 bolts and 2 six inch rods later i woke up . He immediately made me walk around the hospital not even 5 minutes after i woke up . That pain i felt that day ( april 23 2009 ) was the worst thing ive been thru . The pain never went away . To this day i feel that horrible pain as if i just had the surgery yesterday . I got another injection last week . Pain doctors orders . I now have deteriorating disk disease , and rheumatoid arthritis in my spine . Im only prescribed  10/325 mg percocets 4 times a day . I cant live this way . My pain doctor doesnt understand what i am dealing with . I havent been able to work since 2009 . I have 3 children who help me do everything . It should be the other way around .

  • Welcome to the forum. Your story is painful to read. But thanks for sharing. It is your reality for now.

I took a different route. When diagnosed I was offered surgery and turned it down. I pursued every type of alternative care from chiropractic, acupressure, acupuncture, diet modification, supplements, etc

What worked for me to get off the pain medication and off of crutches after months..was a specific type of chiropractic care called atlas orthogonal chiropractic care. It is a specialty within upper cervical care. The other things that helped were to stop eating / drinking things that intensified paid - tomatoes, peppers, caffeine were my culprits. Then found food / drink that brought inflammation and pain down - black cherry juice, magnesium citrate, green powders.

I still have daily pain, sleep is not sound. But I am mobile and play with my kids.

I tell my story in the hope that some nugget might improve your life and lower your suffering.

    Praying for you.
