Hello

Hi, I'm Carol and I'm 67.  I'm new here.  I have spinal scoliosis, spinal stenosis, arthritis, and multiple sclerosis.  I have had spinal fusion and decompression surgery.  I think it only worked for a short period of time and now I have chronic back pain.  Now I am also having trouble with my neck and experience too much dizziness.  My neurologist is very concerned that I have neck surgery rather quickly before I start losing feeling in my arms and legs.

    Welcome to Spine-health.

I am so sorry to hear about your chronic back pain after surgery.  To now have another issue with your neck must be very hard to deal with.

Please let us know when you are having surgery when you know as there is a support system here for you.  We have monthly surgery buddies' group that you can access and become part of if that helps.

I have added to links below to help you get started, while you wait for other replies.

    Hi capitolcarol!!

    Welcome to Spine-Health

What did he find in your neck that was so alarming?
I understand about the chronic back pain, I've had surgeries as well as having scoliosis, spinal stenosis, osteo and RA, plus a few other things. Like you, those things alone can be painful.

  • Spinal stenosis narrows and compresses.  I just had a cervical spine MRI.  The neurologist was alarmed and said he was going to consult with other radiologists.  I had another procedure to attend to, but he grabbed my arm when I finished..  He had contacted others  about my MRI and he was more worried than before.  It is way too crowded in my neck and I should have neck surgery as soon as I could.  Of course when he told me that I got so upset, I called my husband to come and get me.

Capitolcarol, our thoughts and prayers remain with you throughout this ordeal! I as well had cord compression following my injury and the quicker they get to it the less the permanent damage. Please keep us posted and know prayers for a speedy recovery are on their way!
